| Author | Topic: Back From My TR | | ababyforus | Hi ladies Well I finally get to join you on this side!!! My TR was on Friday and it was a great experience. We got to Chapel Hill around 8:00 and checked into the Sheraton , beautiful room and the staff was very accommodating. We asked for a fridge and they had it to are room within 5 min. My DH went to school at UNC so for dinner we went to the Rathskeller, his favorite resurant, then we walked some around Franklin street. We got to Chapel Hill Surgical Center at 7:30 a.m. and I was the third scheduled to go in. Barbara was my nurse and she was just great. They took me back and I changed into the gown, booties and ever so stylish hat. We then went and had BP checked and talked with Anesthesia . The IV did not hurt a bit, no pain at all. My DH I think was more nervous than me, LOL. After all this was done we sat in the waiting area for my turn, we read magazines and talked and the nurses checked on us several times to make sure we had everything we needed. When it was my time to go back they let Wes go to the door with me and he gave me a big hug and kiss and I went in. The surgery room staff was great and made me feel at ease. After the TR I woke up and there was Wes. Of course, the first thing I asked was "what are my tubal lengths" He had not been told yet. I was not in a lot of pain just confused as to what was on my face, LOL the oxygen mask. Wes got a kick out of that. Dr. Berger came and sat down to go over the surgery. Unfortunately my left tube was not able to be repaired. My ovaries, tube and part of the intestines were covered in adhesions and scar tissue. Dr. Berger explained that it was too risky to try to cut away all of the scar tissue for fear of loosing a lot of blood. I was devastated. I just started crying. But the good news is that my right tube was able to be repaired and I have 3 on that side and he said it looked very healthy. My poor DH felt so bad for me and I felt like I had let him down somehow. I will say that Dr. Berger is the most compassionate doctor I have ever had. Most of my experience has been that when Dr.'s tell you the results of things it is very cut and dry. Not so with him. He was very understanding at why I was upset and handed me a tissue and rubbed my back for reasurance. He went on to tell me that it may take us longer to get a BFP but that my right tube looked great. I truly do appreciate his bedside manner, and he will never know how much that one small gesture meant to Wes and me. After I calmed down some we collected ourselves and they took us to the area with the recliners. The IV was taken out and the post op instructions were given. Barbara was wonderful and very sweet as well as everyone we met there. We got back to the hotel and spent the afternoon just hanging out. Starting that afternoon I did take the pain pills and have been every 5 hours to stay ahead of any pain. Tommorow I am just going to try Tylenol. That night I fell well enough to walk around some and we went to Bob Evans were I got some Yummy soup. Today Stephanie came to check on us and said that everything looked great. Overall this was a great experience. I truly in my heart know that Dr. Berger did what he could and kept my safety as the number one goal, and that is what makes him a wonderful doctor. I am going to have a positive outlook on things no matter what. I only have one tube and yes it is short, but it only takes one tube to get pregnant. Wes, my DH, said to me that "you have more of a chance to get pregnant today then you had yesterday" And that is the motto I will take with me as I start this journey. Sorry for the novel here but just wanted to get it all out, feels better some times that way. I also wanted people that have not had their TR yet to know that they are are in great hands with DR. B and all of his staff. They are a great group of people that will do everything they can to make this an easy and comfortable process. Take care and wishing lots of Baby Dust to everyone!!!
