Mary - You will have to go to NC to have your tubal reversal at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center. It is same day surgery so you do not have to stay in the hospital. There are some lab tests that are required and you would have those done by your local doctor. The cost for those tests is separate from the cost for the tubal ligation procedure.

I had my Tubes cut, tied and burned in February 2009 after I had my little girl who is now almost 3 years old.I have been having these weird pains that feel like someone has taken knife and pushed them into my uterus and pulled them down both legs. This pains put me to my knees. I have told the doctor who did the procedure and he said I am still healing from having my daughter. He has not done any test to find out why I am hurting so bad. This usually occurs right be4 I have my monthly. Which is now never on at the same time anymore. When I do have my monthly it last maybe 3to4 days. And is never on the same day every month. I want to know if it is possible to have it reversed. I regret having my tubal ligation done now. If I would of known that I would have this problem I would of never got it done to begin with.

The steps are fairly easy..try and get your tubal ligation operative records from the hospital where the surgery was done. Send them to us for review. If you can not get the records you would still be a candidate. You can call the office to speak with a nurse (919) 968-4656 for more information.

Scheduling tubal reversal is as simple as calling, requesting a surgery date, paying for the surgery and making travel arrangements. If you are ready it can be done over the phone and within 30 minutes but it is best to call and let the nurses answer any questions you may have.

Hi, I am 36 years old and I had my tubal ligation 15 years ago in 1996. They cauterized both my tubes in three different areas. When we looked into ART I was told by my RE that IVF was the way to go, so we just completed our first round of IVF and unfortunately it failed. Sadly enough, I feel they wanted me to do IVF because that is their “business” and they get way more profit, but I may be wrong. All my labs prior to and during were good, especially for my age but I was labeled a “poor responder” to the FSH medications, meaning I started with an antral follicle count of 12 and only ended up with three eggs in which only one fertilized but did not implant. They now want to try me on an estrogen priming protocol. I am really beginning to wonder if a reversal might work better for me if I am a poor responder to IVF meds, perhaps more natural would work better? Do you feel I am a good candidate for a reversal?

Tubal reversal is an option as long as you are having regular periods; however, it is extremely difficult to become pregnant naturally at the age of 47. IVF with donor eggs is the best option for you.

It depends on what you mean by ‘partial hysterectomy’. Some people mistakenly use the term for removal of one ovary or tube. If this is the case then reversal and pregnancy are possible. If your uterus has been removed then you would need a gestational surrogate (someone else to carry your pregnancy). I am unaware of the possibility of uterine transplant. That would be very risky.

The term partial hysterectomy can mean two things. It is intended to mean your uterus was removed but your cervix was left behind. If you have this then you will not be able to become pregnant. The term is sometimes incorrectly used to mean only an ovary was removed. If you only had an ovary removed then you can get pregnant after a tubal reversal.

If you are having regular periods then tubal reversal and pregnancy are possible; however, it is very difficult to become naturally pregnant after the age of 43. Our oldest patient who became naturally pregnant was 46 years of age. IVF with donor eggs is your best option for pregnancy.

Hi, I had my tubes cut (I think)in 2008 during my C-Section. My situation is a bit different, I want to become pregnant but I dont want another child…lol I want to carry a child for my close friends who have tried to get pregnant for 5 years and after they were pregnant for 6 months lost there child. So, I would need invitro… I just wonder if I would need a reversal or can the egg be put in the uterus regardless….

I am 25 years old and I have two children. I had my tubes tied about 4 years ago.. yes i know that was a crazy thing to do at such a young age but at the time i was married and we had a "perfect little family" well... he left me and the kids about 4 months after i got the tubal done. I think the doctor burned the tubes! I cant remember if he burned or tied them! I have recently got engaged and me and my fiance are wanting a child so bad! he has no children so it means a lot to him! I am from Tupelo, MS and we have a doctor here that can do it but we are considering coming there! we have heard so many great things about this clinic, but i have one question... what are the chances of this working with my tubes being burned if they are?

I just turned 42 & have three older children with my former husband — my 2nd husband and I want a child of our own desperately but I was told that during the c section of my 3rd child – my tubes were cut and burned of course at that time with my consent as I didn’t know my life would change & I’d end up with someone else. I was 23 at the time the procedure was done & told for years this a permanent procedure that cannot be reversed. Is there any chance this information is wrong? Could it be possible that at least one tube could be repaired?

Sophia - It is certainly possible to repair fallopian tubes after they have been tied, cut, and burned. There is an increased risk of ectopic pregnancy associated with tubal reversal surgery but following the early pregnancy monitoring protocol as described on the webpage I'm Pregnant can prevent the risk of tubal rupture.

I am a 44 year old african american female (not sure if that matters) I take blood pressure and thyroid meds. I for the 1st time in my life WANT to have a baby with the man I deeply love. I am 40 years old mother of two children from previous relationships. My children are 19, 16. I already got married to the love of my life since 2004 and he has only one child from his first marriage. I want to have a baby with my husband. I had my tubes burned in June 1994.
