Your miscarriages were likely early ectopic pregnancies which the body was able to treat without medical intervention. We call these ‘tubal miscarriages’.

Hi, im 27 and have 3 children. I got my tubes tied after my 3rd child 5.5 years ago. But now me and my partner are ready to have another one. I have read up and researched the costs of the procedure, but was told that eptopic pregnancies after having the procedure done are very high. I was told that i might be better of skipping the procedure and getting IVF done instead, although it can take a couple of times. Jeanette – The 30% pregnancy rate in the tables is for all women 40 and older. Since women in the later forties are included in this group, the pregnancy rate is lower than just for women at age 40. The sooner you have the procedure, in general, the better since fertility declines naturally with increasing age, but a few months delay in not likely to a critical factor in the success of the tubal reversal procedure.

Jeanette – You have had both a clip and ligation/resection method of tubal ligation. Since these were both applied to the portion of the tubes near the uterus and short segments were removed (1.5 cm and 1.0 cm), tubal reversal will be possible.

Dr. Berger I have 5 children ranging from 22 to 16 years of age. I have no children with my husband. I have my paperwork which states the tube was ligated about 1 1/2 inches from the corneal portion and the distal loop was transected for the specimen. It also states that a hulka clip was applied on the isthmic area on both sides and the right tube specimen was 15x5x5 and the left tube specimen sent to the lab was 10x5x5. I just turned 25 in Nov. And I have four children of my own but would love to have a child with my new husband b/c he has none of his own and two year ago I have my tubes tied after have my last child ! I’ve had my tubes tied since march 14th 2003, after my 3rd child. I had 3 C-sections, 3 abortions and 1 miscarriage. the Dr. told me that i cant have over 3 c-sections or it will be a 50/50 chance of me living or dying so thats why i had got my tubes tied, cause i was scared. But my questions is(1) “Is there any other method that is cheaper?” (2) will they ever untie by themselves after 7 1/2 yrs.

Tubal ligation is not perfect…but it is very close. If someone gets pregnant after their tubes have been tied then either the doctor missed the fallopian tubes during the surgery or, more commonly, the tubes will heal with a small opening in place called a fistula. Many pregnancies after you have your tubes tied will be in the tubes ..or ectopic pregnancies.

I have a friend that had her tubes tied for 10yrs and got pregnant 4 times after that so if the tubes don't untie why did she get pregnant? I also got pregnant but lost it and now only have one tube and the doctor said I still could get pregnant.

I got my tubes tying 8yrs ago and got pregnant in the tubes and they had to remove the left tube. I still have my right tube but then got pregnant again and just lost it because to much meds but now I have a great man and have been with him for 2yrs. What are the chances of me getting pregnant?
