Aside from patients self educating, I think it is important for all health care professionals who counsel women about contraception, to recognize the advantages and disadvantages of female sterilization. It is very comforting to know that when one contacts Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center, the staff members are well educated in tubal reversal and patient care is top priority.

Here is another very informative blog by Dr. Berger. Unfortunately, many people don’t consider the source of advice given during decision-making times. Women should realize that often their care givers have a financial motive in suggesting tubal ligation for birth control without regard for future change-of-heart. Careful questioning as well as information such as this that Dr. Berger provides should always be encouraged to those making medical decisions that have such long term effects.

A woman might think she is ready to be sterilized at age 24 if she has had 3 kids and her doctor is advising it, but there is no way to know what her life might be like 10 years down the road. Sterilization is such an extreme decision. Especially when some doctors who perform the ligation destroy much more of the tube then necessary. Doctors who perform tubal ligations can easily make it so it will be reversible. Luckily, Dr. Berger is able to reverse tubal ligations for his patients 98% of the time!

I think the best thing a woman can do for herself is be educated about any and all decisions she may make, particularly those that concern her fertilty. Dr. Berger always makes sure that the most current and relevant information about tubal reversal surgery is always available and even provides a message board for discussion. This is just one more way that Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center proves that it is the best facility in the world for tubal reversal surgery.

By providing this pertinent information Dr. Berger has given hope to overweight women. The knowledge that losing weight will increase the chances of pregnancy after tubal reversal surgery can be the extra incentive needed to stick to a healthy diet and improve overall health.

I think that this once again proves that information is a woman’s best defense in regards to making decisions for herself and her body. I am so glad that the reversal procedure is possible so that women have the opportunity to change a decision made at a time in her life when circumstances were different. Thank you, Dr. Berger, for providing information that we can read and think about.
