Six weeks later, I had my suicide planned out because postpartum depression hit me so badly (something I did not have with my other two children.) upon my next period I had cramping that made me want to cut myself open to remove my own ovaries. Periods fluctuated after that, from too heavy for a super plus tampon and an overnight pad to hold without changing every hour, or it would be normal and last two weeks minimum. I noticed a pattern after that, that sex with my husband is extremely painful from monthly ovulation until menstruation each month. I went to my gynecologist where I had numerous tests done and found nothing wrong. She prescribed me birth control pills that made me bleed nonstop for the month I was on them, and I felt too depressed to leave the house and contemplated suicide. She referred me onto a family doctor who did his tests, found nothing, and referred me on to a psychiatrist. At this point I am diagnosed with bipolar, severe agoraphobia, and medicated me strongly. I cannot sleep at night without medication, I cannot leave my home from the anxiety attacks. There is a whole list of other things wrong, but the only thing I fear more than dying is living anymore. I cannot hug or touch people because I feel agitated and it feels gross. I know my problems began after my tubal ligation. I was a loving mother and wife before. I do not have the money for a reversal, but I am 99% sure I need it, and do not think it possible to feel better without it. Is there any options for the financial aspect of it? Nevertheless, he is a blessing and I have no regrets, but 4 was more than I'd planned for, so sterility seemed a wise option. We all experience physical and emotional changes when we spend approx. 38 weeks pregnant and then go through arduous birth process to deliver our young (that is why it's called labor). Anyway, after all my babies I had the usual adjusting, a pinch of postpartum blues, irregular missed periods between breastfeeding and trying to lose the extra weight. I knew/expected it would take 6-12 mons. to adjust as close to pre-pregnancy as possible. So, after my tubal ligation I experienced the worst of my post delivery symptoms of adjustment and I attributed it to a difficult labor (since he was my biggest baby weighing 8 lbs 2 oz at just 37 weeks). I wasn't in my early twenties anymore either, I was 30...out had also been 7 years since my last baby. But a year went by, my periods never returned to normal, when I DID get a period it was just bright red thin blood, never any clots. Painful intercourse, loss of libido (don't know which came first but I'm sure it hurting didn't help set the mood). Then I became very ill, morning sickness-like symptoms, smells made me gag and nausea was unbearable, dizziness and vertigo that incapacitated me and exacerbated the nausea. I thought it was an infer ear thing, saw my doctor, but ears were fine. Stomach bug? Bought into it and took anti emetics/nausea pills as needed. My ob/gyn gave me low dose oral contraceptive to help regulate these painful, irregular periods that went from scanty blood for a day or two, to what looked like a severed arterial bleed ranging from days to a week, to nothing for two months except spotting after sex or random spotting, to making up for missed periods and swearing I was having a miscarriage (as far as having serum hcg drawn to confirm I wasn't pregnant). For 2 & 1/2 years I've seen more specialists than I can list. I was hospitalized for a week, had countless tests done, but no definitive dx. More pills to ttreat the symptoms and prayers it would resolve on it's own. I noticed a funny odor in my breath that my husband pointed out just prior to the severest onset of the symptoms. I was tested for diabetes thinking maybe I had ketoacidosiso, but again dead end. Tests were all normal, yet people could see me turn a shade of green in an instant and get pale and sick, so it wasn't in my head even though I started thinking I was going insane. I finally went to the Mayo Clinic and saw specialists I never knew existed and had more tests, more specialists, then more tests...still nothing definitive. I entertained everything they they speculated and out of desperation followed all their care plans....still, nothing....same symptoms some does are just worse than others. I function some days and others I'm incapacitated, bedridden, or leaning over something to barf in with ice packs to help with the hot flashes or blankets and sweaters when my fingers are blue and I'm freezing. I am getting to the point where I want something to be done. My ob/gyn doc has told me in the past that it was just hormones and age that Im going through and dismissed it as that. Now that my pain is getting worse, I can't just dismissed this as hormones and age anymore. It hurts and just in case I really don't want to hear the "H" word... hysterectomy. Because it seems like hysterectomy is just a common practice these day and insurance is quick to assist you with that. Its just ashame that you can't be diagnosed with PTLS and the insurance will not pay for reversal to releive your pain. It's pretty much saying either suffer or cut out one of your body parts, no saving what you have. Again, it seems like hysterectomy is a common practice just like tubal ligation. I wish I knew now what I knew then before I made the decision to have TL done. If I was only armed with these informations.... I also put on a lot of weight and I have tried everything to loose it, right now I'm taking a shot that is $250 every time I need one and insurance doesn't pay for it and all I lost was 8 pounds and I've been on it for 3 months, it used to be real easy for me to loose the baby weight but now I have to struggle to loose a pound. I also got real bad acne on my face and back and chest and I have never got acne before in my life, I am 24 and this is the 1st time I have ever had a zit. I have real bad depression and a feeling that the world is going to end. I have hardly any sex drive at all and that's not making my marriage any better. Its affecting my marriage and my kids. I didnt even connect it to the tubal . But this morning, I just decided to look up side effects to tubals and it all seems to come together. Ive had every test under the sun, scans etc and all came up normal. THIS makes sense. Maybe Im not crazy after all. The problem is, I am military and can only see military doctors. Unfortunately, most of them treat all of us with little respect or compassion. Its really quite sad and incredibly frustrating. I cant afford to go outside of the military. My tubal was done at a local army hospital and they really didnt give me much information the only thing they did was ask me over and over if I was sure I didnt want more kids. Which I dont..I have 2 stepchildren and 3 of my own. Im good. I need help but dont know what to say or do when it comes to military docs to get them to really listen and take me seriously. I would strongly advise you to do what Dr. Monteith suggested. I had all of those symptoms but recently had my tubes reversed, May 3 2010. Its only been a week and I can feel the difference already. My period started last Thurs, 5 days after surgery, and was like it was five years ago. There was a little clotting but nothing major and I don’t feel like if my kids leave a sock on the floor I am gonna go nuts!! I never new about PTLS or Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome until I started preparing for my surgery and I truly believe I suffered from this and if I could go back 5 years I would have NEVER had a tubal ligation.

But 2 or 3 year ago things got worse, if is possible?! I began feeling this strong palpitations,my heart feat like it was going to explode, or like it would stop at any moment. Iwas very scared, not only this but i couldn't and still can't walk a few steps without feeling so so tired,without energy,and my heart woul feel horrible, it very scary. A year ago i went to a cardiologyst an had so many tests done, even blood tests. After all those tests, nothing was wrong with my heart but it was clear that my physical condition was so bad ...The Dr.noticed my blood count was too low. It should had been, araund 11 or 12, and instead it was 7.5. He was amazed, in shock,and told i was anemic, that i should go to an hematologyst. Time passed, and finally went to an ob/gyn few days ago,after explaining everything,he tells me that i have BTL Syndrom. he explained that 10 to 15 years ago the surgery would cut or damaged an artery that goes very close to the tubes, causing all these extremely heavy bleeding,...kind of an open valve, and that i would bleed not only the regular stuff of any menstrual period but regular blood, that my body needed. He tells me, that since i am 48 years old, and had my 3 children already(3 C-sections),and since i had my 1st period at age 11,and probably could have around 4 or 5 more years before menopause, my solution would be a laparoscopic total hysterectomy.This of course after many studies, ecograms, etc,all this to avoid the regular surgery which is more invasive, and painfull.But if should be the case after knowing rhe results of the tests, etc, then he would do the regular surgiry. After a sonogram confirmed it was an eptopic in my tube, I am sad to say I had it removed along with my left tube... In case you are wondering how I became pregnant... my body aparently tried to heal itself and grew a NEW (connector like) tube from one cut end of my left tube to the othr end that was large enough for the sperm to get to the egg, but not large enough for the fertilized egg to get to my uterus and got stuck in the tube. Since the removal surgury I have had many symptoms such as depression, massive night sweats, short term memory loss, etc., but during that time period I had another health issue that is non-relatd (a spinal tumor) that required, and still requires a lot of meds due to chronic pain, so I contributed most of the symptoms to the meds. I recently discussed my symptoms w/ my pain management doc and was told that night sweats (specific to night) sounded to himlike a hormonal issue and to see my OBGYN. After broad blood testing and a sonogram, the blood work determined my estrogen AND progesterone levels are that of about a 7 year old child, and I am 32 years old! Also, my sonogram did not show that my ovaries/uterus are unhealthy. An MRI of my Pituitary gland was then ordered and I just got the results back today showing no obstruction of the Pituitary gland. I am very confused as to what could cause all of this! I found this site after reading on the symptoms of PTLS, and all of the symptoms are matching up to mine. Would a tubal reversal help in my case? And if not, if I bring up the possibility of PTLS to my doctor will it get a negative response due to the lack of acceptance in the medical industry? I just want to get healthy again, but I don't want to try HRT until I know what has caused all of the problems in the first place. I don't want to mask the problem....I want to fix it.
