Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center Mission Statement
Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center is the only medical facility specifically for tubal ligation reversal surgery. We provide the most detailed and accurate information about tubal reversal available from any doctor, hospital, or medical institution. Let me explain how we are able to do this.
Electronic Patient Database
Keeping track of patients following surgery makes excellent sense from a clinical point of view. Continuing follow-up after surgery helps ensure the best care for each patient and allows us to evaluate the success of tubal reversal surgery and the care we provide. Setting up and maintaining a system to ensure ongoing follow-up is not usually found in a private medical practice since this is costly and time-consuming and requires staff knowledgeable in database management. Regardless of the cost and time requirement, Dr. Berger has made it a priority because of his commitment to giving patients all of the information they should have in order to make an informed decision about tubal reversal surgery.
At Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center, we have a computer system where every nurse enters patient information before, during, and after their surgery. In fact, all 11 of our nurses contact patients, record data, and make daily entries into computerized records. With this follow-up information, we can analyze and report accurate statistical data about the long-term outcomes of tubal reversal procedures performed here.
Information Sources
The patient follow-up system consists of information collected in many different ways and includes a minimum of 6 calls or e-mails to the patient in the first year following surgery.
1. Post-operative nurse visit the morning after surgery
2. Telephone follow-up on the second postoperative day
3. Telephone follow-up on the third postoperative day
4. E-mail questionnaire at two weeks
5. Telephone contact at 6 months
6. Telephone contact at 12 months
Other information is collected and recorded any time we communicate with patients post-operatively. These contacts are usually initiated by patients to report pregnancies and the outcomes of pregnancies. When patients report new pregnancies, we request that they complete a Pregnancy Report Form. Each week, we summarize the new pregnancy results in the Weekly Pregnancy Report Forum of the Tubal Reversal Message Board and also give more details in the New Pregnancy Announcements.
Summary
After reading our information and statistics and comparing it to what might be available from other doctors, we believe patients will recognize that Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center is the only facility where accuracy of information is considered to be a priority and sharing it with prospective patients is considered to be a necessity. Providing facts rather than offering misleading or speculative statements about tubal reversal success is one mission of our practice. We believe this is the right thing to do.
I hope this information is helpful to you as you consider whether tubal reversal surgery is right for you, and if so, why it is in your best interests to have it performed at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center.

Thank you, Julia. Your blog topic will help to educate others about what makes Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center stand apart from any other organization or doctor’s practice. Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center is the only place that maintains accurate follow-up data about the results of all tubal reversal procedures. For anyone wanting to know what a doctor’s success is in performing tubal ligation reversal, this is essential information. This sets a higher standard in clinical practice, utilizing the concepts of evidence-based medicine.

It is true! No other facility keeps track of their tubal reversal patients post operatively as Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center does. In fact, we often have other doctor’s patients call our facility for advice because they say their tubal reversal surgeon is not available to them after surgery for questions.

Whenever I make follow-up calls or post operative visits our patients will state almost unanimously that they chose Dr. Berger because he offered the most information on his website from his data base or because they felt he was the best doctor due to his strong presence when they did an internet research. No one comes to Dr. Berger by accident. As Julia said it is one of the missions of this practice to offer data and education and to allow our patient to make an intelligent informed decision based on facts.

The fact that the actual outcomes and stats are published along with a totally informative website and, of course, Dr. Berger being the premier expert in the tubal reversal field..left me with a high level of confidence in my decision to go to CH for my reversal to alleviate my PTLS. I have been with the same OB/GYN for 22 years and I am not one to select am MD on the net, but, aside from Dr. B’s vast experience..the blogs, blog comments, statistics and the message board content really demonstrated to me that CH is an honest open book, helping women grow their families or get their health and lives back while encouraging women to share experiences and support each other on their tubal reversal journies. My experience was wonderful and I cannot say enough about the care I received at CH. I am quickly getting my health and life back and only wish I had found CH years ago! Thank you for literaly bringing me back to life and to my family!

There is a lot of information out there on the internet about many different things and when patients visit Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center’s website they can clearly see that they are getting complete and accurate information. We are contacted daily by women desiring to have tubal reversal surgery and most of them say that they are impressed with the information that they see on the website and the fact that the staff is available to speak with them at any time. Exceptional patient care is very important and it begins with the information that is our website for women who are desiring tubal reversal surgery.

Yes, we collect and enter a lot of data each day. This data are analyzed once a year so that new pregnancy statistics can be published for our patients to see. Several other doctors who do tubal reversal surgery give “success rates” but do not have the data to back it up. This makes their “success rates” suspect since without collecting the data how can they possibly know what their rates actually are? This is very important and one of the many reason’s Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center is the premier place to have tubal reversal surgery.

I love the data base and the information it has to offer. Not only does it help me when answering patient questions, it teaches me as well. It is so nice to see that we are truly making a difference in our patient’s lives!

Julia, this is only one of the impressive features of Dr. Berger’s practice. Having kept records of all of his surgery patients is amazing. Making this available to women seeking information is truly “going the extra mile”!

The data base is a great idea, not only for the benefits of our patients and people looking to come here but for me as well. I love being able to see the results of the tubal reversals I have assisted in and how many people we have been able to help each year.

Julia’s blog on this important topic of data collecting for follow up on Dr. Berger’s tubal reversal patients, just shows that the extension of care goes beyond surgery to untie tubes. The internet opens the door for women to make a choice of doctor and facility for this important life changing procedure only to point to the most thorough and experienced doctor in the area of tubal reversal surgery.

One reason I chose Chapel Hill was the informative website and nursing staff that I spoke with when I called for more information. I was impressed not only with the depth of the information but that everyone I spoke with - and I spoke to several nurses - all seemed equally as informed and involved in the TR process.
It takes a excellent staff to keep things running as smooth as they do at Chapel Hill. The hard work of the staff complements Dr.Berger and now Dr.Monteith and the excellent work they both do daily.
