I don’t know if this question has been asked already.
But I too had a tubal ligation the day of my 5yr older birth. My obgyn at the time said chances of getting pregnant was 20%. So my question is. Can they really grow back after being cut and burned. It’s been 5yrs. Also to get that kind of info who should I go to to get my record. I don’t have that doctor anymore?

The cost is currently $5900. There is an increased risk of tubal pregnancy (10-15%) but when the pregnancy gets to your uterus the remainder of the pregnancy should be normal and low risk.

As Dr. Monteith said, most insurance companies will not pay for tubal reversal surgery. However, it never hurts to call and ask them. We have had a few reports that patients have received some money back after filing the receipt given at discharge which includes the diagnosis and procedure codes. Also, I wanted to mention that you should call the office for special pricing which is good through September.

None of the things you mention should be a problem with having tubal ligation reversal. Your chances for getting pregnant after tubal reversal should be about 64%.

It is important that you do not delay too long in your decision because the ability to become pregnant does decrease with age and this tends to happen more quickly after the age of 40.

Tubal reversal and pregnancy are both possible for you. If you are having regular periods then you can become pregnant but it is very difficult to become pregnant naturally at the age of 48. We recommend IVF with donor eggs for the best chances. It does become difficult with increasing age but we have had patients at the age of 46 and 50 (tubal reversal at age 50) become pregnant. Health insurance will not pay for tubal reversal surgery.

Amanda We can certainly help you if you want to have a tubal reversal. We do have a pre-payment plan where you can gradually pay towards having your tubal reversal and when paid in full you can have surgery. We would have to first evaluate your medical records to see if surgery at out center would be safe enough for you with your liver disease. It is harder to become pregnant naturally with increasing age. After the age of 43 IVF with donor eggs may be your best option.

I would love to have another baby with the love of my life I’ve 5 children grown and the problem is I don’t know if it could happen (tubal reversal) since I have medical problems and a liver disease in which I have to take meds for and meds for the other problems I don’t want nothing bad to happen to the baby. And the biggest problem also is that I’m on Medicaid and disability and really can’t pay for this. I’m 44 years old.

Most of our patients report pregnancy within 8 months of reversal surgery. If pregnancy has not happened by 12 months then your wife should have a HSG. If both tubes are open then pregnancy is possible and may take longer. It can be much harder for older women to become pregnant. We have had patients naturally conceive and give birth between the ages of 45-47. A recent patient became pregnant after reversal at the age of 46.

The only was to have your tubes untied is through surgery. The alternative way to have another baby is in vitro fertilization (IVF).

MARLENE – If both ends of the tubes were burned (next to the uterus and at the fimbrial end of the tube), it is unlikely that this is a surgically correctable situation, but it would be best to send a copy of your operative report to us to be reviewed.

I’m not real good with the medical term, but I had my tubes done 3 years ago and it was performed by three tiny incisions and the laser. Would I still be able to try and have a procedure for reversal?

You can have tubal reversal surgery to have your tubes restored but your tubes will not come undone by themselves.

I am 43 years old and have a 23 year old daughter and a 7 year old son I got pregnant naturally both times after my son I got my tubes tied then we now want another one. My husband is the father of my son and we have been together 19 years this past January could you tell me we are not crazy, I have set the date for reversal for this Friday the 13th of March.
