Pregnancy After Tubal Reversal: Dr. Monteith’s First Tubal Baby
The staff of Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center is pleased to announce the arrival of Dr. Monteith’s first tubal ligation reversal baby.
The first Monteith Miracle T-Shirt was mailed to Alaska the first week of April. The pregnancies assisted by Dr. Monteith are beginning to roll in and the ‘Montieth Miracle’ t-shirts are starting to roll out.
Tubal Reversal Doctors: Dr. Monteith’s Success
Dr. Charles Monteith is a tubal reversal doctor who started working full time as a tubal reversal specialist on July 21st 2008 at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center. The first patient to become pregnant, after having a reversal by Dr. Monteith, traveled to us from the state of Alaska. She had her surgery on July 22nd, 2008.
The patient notified us of pregnancy within 4 weeks of her reversal surgery. She had an early ultrasound which showed the pregnancy was healthy and inside her uterus.
We received four pregnancy reports from patients during Dr. Montieth’s first two weeks of reversing tied tubes.
Since then there have been many more reports of pregnancies and we now regularly notify Tubal Reversal Message Board members every week of the newly reported pregnancies.
Pregnant After Tubal Reversal
These four patients were the first to become pregnant after a tubal reversal by Dr. Monteith. They are representative of the diverse group of patients we see at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center. They come from all walks of life and from across the United States. They have had different types of tubal ligations and tubal lengths measuring from 3 to 8.5 cm.
Alaska (Falope ring tubal ligation)
New York (Bipolar cautery)
North Carolina (Bipolar cautery)
Idaho (Filshie clip tubal ligation)
Other Tubal Reversal Stories After Tubal Ligation…
We have many patient stories on our Tubal Reversal Blog. Readers are encouraged to travel through this blog site to read about the many personal tubal reversal stories patients share with us and other women. These stories are inspirational and show other readers they are not alone in their desires to have more children after tubal ligation.
After Tubal Reversal Pregnancy…The Winner Is…
There was an unofficial competition among patients of our Tubal Reversal Message Board for who would be the first patient to report a pregnancy to Dr Monteith and also who would have the first successful pregnancy. The winner is from Alaska and for privacy reasons can not share any significant personal details; however, she was the first to report a pregnancy and was also the first to have successful pregnancy.
She was originally due to have her baby in April of 2009. Her pregnancy was healthy and went well, but she was delivered four weeks early by cesarean because of an unexpected pregnancy complication. She had a healthy baby boy weighing 5lbs 3ozs on March 25th, 2009.

JENNIFER – Take a look at Table 5 on our Pregnancy Statistics page. This shows a very high pregnancy rate for women of your age who have have their tubes burned (coagulated). When the tubes have been tied and burned, they are placed in the coagulation category for purposes of analysis.

The average success rate is around 70%. Many patients believe burning (coagulated) is the worst thing you can do to a tube, but it really depends on how much was burned (coagulated). You should send us your operative reports and we will be able to tell you with more certainty.

I have 3 children and had my tubes tied and burned after my 3rd child 3 years ago. Now I am remarried and my husband has no children and we really want one. Can you tell me how high the tubal reversal success rate will be that I can get pregnant again since they were burned too? I am 29 years old.

I can hardly wait till the late fall, when I will travel from this great State of Alaska to have my tubes untied. As I reported earlier, I have received my operative report from a 20 years old Pomeroy Tubaligation.
Just yesturday in the mail I received my orders to do the testing of my eggs and the order for my husband to have his sperm count as he has never fathered a child, from the Dr and nurse at your clinic.
I have had 4 successful pregnacies and expect this to be my long awaited fifth child. My youngest son is 19 soon to be twenty in december.
It is all my new husband and I can pray for is the birth of this child and that with God’s help and the Dr’s and nurses we will make this journey on the road and the journey of our life together starting this new life.
Thanks so much for helping us soon to make this dream come true.
