I had my tubes tied 8 years ago. I am over two months late on my period. I did take a home pregnancy test a couple of weeks ago and it was negative.
I have been feeling really dizzy and nauseous for the past three days.

I am 38 years old and had the filshie clip put on my tubes 11 years ago…no cut, tie or burn. My last period was December 18th although not my normal period…spotting that lasted 3 days. Normally I have heavy bleeding. The last 4 weeks I have felt a little nausea, and stomach aches, and nipples were very sore only for about a week then stopped. Also started having dreams that I give birth to a baby girl that has trouble breathing and some other vivid dreams. Then a week ago I started getting sore breasts that are getting more painful everyday. At first I thought it was just a stomach bug….what is your advice?

Pregnancy and irregular ovulation are the common reasons for abnormal periods. You should take a pregnancy test to make sure you are not pregnant. If you really want to be pregnant then a tubal reversal is much better than waiting on the small chance of tubal failure. Most tubal ligation failure pregnancies are ectopic.

I got my tubes tied in 09. had one pregnancy that was discontinued because of the risk of etopic and recently found out im pregnant again! i had level checked 75 on 9th, 227 on 12th, 583 the 16th, 782 the 18th and 889 today the 19th but have yet to see it on an ultrasound they were saying it was to early to see it but now want to do a d&c tomorrow should I go? i have read all the comments. so here we go i am a 42 year old that had my tubes tied after my 6th pregnancy 4 live births 2 c section across the bottom of stomach 2 miscarriages i had the tubal done when i was 19 after my 6th pregnancy. it was a live birth july 3rd 1989. i told my doctor to make it irreversable but when i was 30 i met a guy i was intrested in getting preg. so i sent for my records from my doc my tubes were tied they were not burnt and none was removed. well i have had normal periods for years. but for the past few months my periods have been weird and today i have been feeling flutters in my upper abdomen. and have heartburn i have never had heartburn unless i was preg. so i am bsicaly healthy i have hep b was diagnosed when i was 22. went through it and my liver tests have been normal. i am afraid to do a preg test i am in hard times right now living in a small rv and barely making it. i gave my 2nd child up for adoption at birth. so i cant do that again. so i ask should i wait my period was not normal last month and is a dark mucas color like at the end of the period. do u think i could be preg and do home tests work which one is best. thanx

Two years ago got diagnosed with pcos. my periods come around the 15-17 instead I finally got it on the 25th, Christmas morning. It only lasted two days and was light. I usually bleed very heavy ( been to the er twice last year) and will bleed usually 10th-14 days. Two weeks after Christmas I had intercourse with my fiance and had some spotting just that once but here I am in Jan. I’ve had my tubes tied for eight years. Last month I bleed only one day, pretty heavy(not uncommon, except only bled one day) been having a tough time sleeping. My breast hurt really bad not a sign with my three kids before. Not sure how to tell my husband… I’m scared and excited all at the same time. Took a test came back positive. Kristie – You have had a failed tubal sterilization. It is apparent that the clips did not block both tubes. Having another tubal sterilization does seem necessary if you don’t want to be pregnant again.

Hi, I am 24 yrs old & have 2 kids..After my daughter was born in 2008, my husband and I were not sure if we wanted more or not. I talked to my step mom who had clips put in and then talked to my Dr. He said that the Clips did minimal damage. I then asked what would happen if we decided to have another baby in 4 or 5 years, I was then told that i would “Come see him schedule an appt. and he would take them out” At the time i thought it was a good idea. The medical term is (or what they tell me) is: Laparoscopy with Clip placement.I wasn’t even thinking about another baby until i was 5 days late in Jan. Then i started having hip pain in my left hip. I just went and seen him and talked to him about getting the clips out. I was given a number and informed that my medical would not cover a reversal, and i would have to pay out of pocket. So far this month, I have felt sick,sore breast, moody and am currently late. What is the chance of being pregnant or am i being hopeful? and When i finally DO save enough money to get them taken out, what is the chances of having another baby?? I had a tubal ligation done in July 2011. Since then I have had constant pain, extremly irritable, and over all deep regrets of getting it done. My periods have been so painful and heavy (apprx 1 super plus tampon every 20-30 minutes). Just recently I bled for 19 days, stopped for 6 days, and am now bleeding again. What can cause this bleeding to continue for such an extended time as I have had my period since I was 8 years old and have never had any issues with lengthy bleeding. Had a pelvic exam and dr. said my cervix looks irregular but do not believe this could have anything to do with the bleeding. Can the tubal ligation be causing this and is it possible the ligation has come undone by any chance?

More than likely you have irregular ovulation and you are not pregnant; however, you should take a pregnancy test just to make certain. If you really want to get pregnant you will need a surgical reversal of your tubes.

Hi, I’m 26 years old and I had a tubal ligation done in 2007 during my C-section. Well for the past half year now my period has not been normal it has been coming once every 3 months. I went to the hospital and they said everything was fine. Well here it is again I haven’t had my period in 4 months and I’m swollen on the lower part of my stomach and I’m not sure what kind of tubal ligation I had done. Either way I want to have another baby. And my question is if I’m pregnant is it possible for me to carry it to term even though I had this procedure done? And I know about the tubal reversal but there is no way I can afford it and insurance doesn’t cover it. So can someone please let me know.

This question is a bit tricky: Can “life issues” that aren’t particularly stressfull cause one to miss a period? I have been told that is most-likely the reason for my missed period. At 40 yrs old, a 21 month old, a 12 year old and a husband deploying to Afghanistan on Monday (12/19) is the speculated reason for my missed period. I had a tubal ligation (not sure of the type) on 3/11/2010 after my C-section. I can understand the diagnosis, however they won’t assess me for another month, given the stress “eases up”… any suggestions besides throwing a postitive pregnancy stick at them?

my first pregnancy was right tubal ectopic pregnancy 1 and a half years back. i have been trying to conceive from one year but not succeed. my periods are regular. what should i do to get pregnant fast. and it should be the healthy one also. suggest me please.

If your tests are negative then you are not pregnant and you should see your doctor about your symptoms and possibility of other causes.

I’m 34 and I have 3 beautiful children ages 3,6,and 10. 2 years ago my husband and I decided that we didn’t want anymore children. So I had a bilateral tubal ligation done. Recently I’ve been having pregnancy symptoms. Sore breast, nausea, irritable, tired, feeling full in the stomach area with cramping, but had 2 neg home pregnancy test. I’ve even gained 8 lbs in 2 1/2 months. The last 3 months my periods have been really irregular. Stopping and starting either early or late. I’ve never had an issue with my period before except with my other pregnancies. I’ve had issues having a positive pregnancy show up on a urine test before when I was clearly pregnant. Could I be pregnant?

Im 2 months late on my period. I had my tubes tid in 2007. Ive took two test both where negative, but i do feel fluttering after eating. I have 4 kids already including a set of twins. Whats the odds im actually pregnant?

Almost 8years ago i sufferd from placenta accreta/percreta,i only had my tubes clamped,my periods have been heavy but normal,every 4weeks up until now.i had period pains as normal,1day later i had a tiny bit of brown blood by the next day it had stop,3days later still no full on period,what is going on this has never happened before.

Pregnancy is always possible and you should do a pregnancy test. If you want to become pregnant then you should consider reversal. If you dont want to be pregnant then you should not be too concerned about the chance of tubal failure.

can i get pregnant after a bilateral tubal ligation done back in 2003, i had 3 c sections. I feel really different, nipples are tender and longer,dizzy, lazy and i have been eating a lot, my last period lasted about a day or two and it was really light and watery. What are my chances of being pregnant? i am reading my operative report and i read KOCHER clamps, what is that?

Always do a pregnancy test and …just to make sure…if the test is negative the repeat the test in 2 weeks.

Im sorry im going to rewrite that one i wasnt being too specific on the first..Im 39 and I had my tubes tied in 2010 of march and I had a question here..well first of all my periods r normal and my question was can I still get pregnant? I kno its too early to tell but Im feeling weird on this one I had my period 25 to 29 and I had sex right after that for the next 3 days most of the day but he never came inside me he pulled out and after the last time I had a bloody mucus coming out then it came out again for 3 days after that and Im feeling sick to my stomach nausea and tired headaches and my breast feel tender..is it too early to tell since it just happened and when should I go check cause this has never happend before after my tubal..it has happened with my other 2 but that was before my tubal..so im concerned cause of that ..when should I go check?? Im I just being peraniod..thnx

You should take a pregnancy test and if negative repeat the test in a week. If still negative see your doctor about other reasons. If you are between the ages of 45 and 55 then it could be menopause but your doctor can best determine this.

There can be many reasons for your symptoms. You should take a pregnancy test and as long as it is negative I dont think you need to worry much about clamp failure.

i had clamps put on 2 years ago after my 3rd child but last month i had a one day period and this month i havnt had one i feel a little soreness around my uterus is it possible that the clamps failed since i didnt get them cut or burned?

Hi I had my tubes tide 2 1/2 years ago and recently I went to my GYN He said my uterus is tilted to the right. He send me to get an ultrasound they find out I have a intramural fibroid back in September but now I have all the symtoms of pregnacy. I had my tubal in Sept 2010 and Oct 2010 I asked to be put on Lutera (birth control) in order to regulate my period and for extra protection. The last week of Oct 2010, I had my period for the first in more than two years (due to Mirena). During the first couple weeks of Nov 2010 I was under extreme stress and was being taken off an OCD medication. I was due to have my period last week and have not as of yet. I took a pregnancy test last week and this week…both were negative. Could the stress and results of coming off the OCD medications be the possible cause me skipping my period? Should I be worried?

I had my tubal 15 yrs ago in 1996in galipolis ohio my son was born at 424pm i had the tubal at 7 am the nxt day not even 24 hrs later,The doctor that did my tubal has been known for mess ups but i was on medicaid (cheap state insurance)so I had no other option I was under a lot of stress after didnt even get normal 6 week check up (baby was in childrens for 2 weeks ) my ex didnt let me wait we had sex 5 days after all of it the baby and tubal I had a positive test in 02 lost him/her due to a fall and doctor said he saw scar tissue from it so I WAS pregnant my issue is now I have gained weight eating weird stuff and I know the signs im 36 is it possible?
