Is Tubal Ligation Reversible?
Posted On: Thursday, July 1st, 2010

Tubal ligation is reversible. This question is asked many times and not just by women. There are actually quite a few number of men who ask this same question. For many it is a new relationship that sparks the question of is tubal ligation reversible. For others it is just knowing that something is happening with their body that is not right since they has the tubal ligation procedure. As a matter of fact there are women to seek out tubal reversal just for relief of Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome and not to have a child.

Is tubal ligation reversible?

Yes it is and with very good pregnancy success. Many times when a woman is contemplating having a child after tubal ligation she will seek the advice of her physician. All too many times the physician will immediately tell his patient to begin looking into In vitro fertilization or IVF. IVF does work but the reason it is offered more than tubal ligation reversal is still not fully understood. Some believe that it is just not taught in med school like IVF is. IVF also tends to be in the media on a regular basis. There are always stories of the Hollywood couples that are seeking IVF treatments.

Tubal ligation reversal has been proven to have better pregnancy rates over the alternative treatment of IVF as shown in the Tubal Reversal Pregnancy Report 2009. Not only is the pregnancy rate better it is also more affordable. In the United States one round of IVF can cost $10,000 or more. And to the heartbreak of many the first treatment does not always work and needs to be repeated. With tubal ligation reversal the couple has a chance to conceive each cycle without added expensive medical treatment. Tubal reversal is considered the more natural way to conceive after a tubal ligation.

Asking the question is tubal ligation reversible is a question that will never disappear as long as women are having their tubes tied. Even with the newer forms of sterilization such as Essure there will always be women that regret the decision they have made be it due to desiring another child or medical issues that have come to surface due to the procedure.

So when the question arises, is tubal ligation reversible? It most certainly is, and with this knowledge not only are dreams given the reality to come true but also it restores hope to those who thought they would never have another chance to conceive a child in the most natural way after tubal ligation.

I had a tubal ligation when I had a c section 2 years ago. Everyday since I have had some form of abdominal or stomach pain. What could that possibly be? Also is a reversal considered elective if the procedure is the cause of on going pain?
