The Differences Among Doctors

| Julia Smith, RN | Thanks for your question. Several people have pointed out the statistics issue. One thing I have noticed is that other doctors do not provide valid STATISTICS. They may state a pregnancy rate, which often seems to be an arbitrary percentage that is not backed up with actual statistics such as exact number of cases performed, pregnancies by tubal length, age, and type of sterilization. This is all important information. And it is important to know that the doctor is quoting his or her own experience and not those of another doctor or taken from some other source. We recently were informed of a situation where a doctor from a large hospital in the northeast had published a newspaper article about tubal reversal surgery -- and it was copied and pasted from our web site!! Obviously this is misleading to potential patients who, upon reading that article, would be led to believe that this doctor had done more than 6000 reversals when, in fact, he had simply reprinted information by Dr. Berger. It is important to ask questions. The best thing I can say about this facility, though, is the care you will receive. Not just the medical care, but also the personal care. I had two friends who came here for surgery (I came with them) and I was so impressed by the compassionate care they received that I sought a nursing position here so that I could work with healthcare professionals with the highest standards who provide exceptional care. That was ten years ago and I still think it is the best place I have ever worked -- or been to as a patient. I hope this helps! Julia Smith, RN | |
| PElaine | When my dh and I were looking into TR, we did an internet search, and quite a few Dr's came up, but *something* kept drawing me back to Dr. Berger's site. We did background checks on him, looked at the medical sites etc.... We checked in our state (Washington state) and only Virginia Mason did TR's, and the TR alone was $8000, then you had hospital charges on top of that! AND we spoke to the Dr. that did them, and he said that he "only did maybe 2 a year" and that if I had found a Dr. that did 4 a day, 5 days a week that even he would go to that doctor! My dh and I are so grateful to Dr. Berger and ALL his staff for taking such good care of both of us! Yes, I was the one who had the surgery, but the staff also had such compassion for what my dh was feeling! If needed, I would again go across the country to see Dr. Berger for my TR needs. Thank you again for everything Elaine and Bennie C. | |
| Ericka Pamplin, Medical Secretary | Hi mrszamudio, I would have to agree with everyone that has posted a reply. You may find someone to perform your TR cheaper but that person will not have the experience that Dr. Berger has. This is a big decision and you should not feel rushed to make up your mind. As Kay suggested, hang around the board for awhile and as you continue to research, listen to your heart. I feel pretty confident that when your research is complete, we will all be congratulating you on choosing Dr. Berger. Ericka | |
| gwenttc | I have yet to have my TR - planning on it in 2006 -however there was never any question in my mind that Dr. Berger was the one to do it. I first found out about him in 2001 and I have visited a few other TR Docs web sites however something always sent me right back here. I will use Dr. Berger and like so many have said I would travel around the world if I had to to use him because you can just "feel" his compassion through the web site and his emails to the patients. I have dealt with a lot of doctors in my life time and none have ever taken the time to answer what they think are dumb questions (yet they are real fears to us patients) and Dr. Berger is not like that - he shows genuine concern for whatever question you may have. I think he is a Great Doctor and we have yet to meet in person. Gwen | |
