Celebration of Father's Day

In Honor of Fathers - Past, Present and Future

Father's Day - A Brief History

Mrs. John B. Dodd of Washington state proposed the idea of a "father's day" in 1909. Mrs. Dodd wanted a special day to honor her father, William Smart. William Smart, a Civil War veteran, was widowed when his wife (Mrs. Dodd's mother) died in childbirth with their sixth child. Mr. Smart was left to raise the newborn and his other five children by himself on a rural farm in eastern Washington state. It was after Mrs. Dodd became an adult that she realized the strength and selflessness her father had shown in raising his children as a single parent.

The first Father's Day was observed on June 19, 1910 in Spokane Washington. At about the same time in various towns and cities across American other people were beginning to celebrate a "father's day." In 1924, President Calvin Coolidge supported the idea of a national Father's Day. In 1966, President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday of June as Father's Day. This year (2005), the 3rd Sunday of June falls on June 19th just as on the first Father's Day in 1910.

Father's Day has evolved to become a day to honor not only fathers but all men who are father figures. Stepfathers, uncles, grandfathers, and adult male mentors are now all honored on Father's Day.

Quotes From Our Testimonials Pages

"I had never had kids but knew from a very young age that I wanted to be a father. All I can say is ask for the video or talk to one of Dr. Berger's wonderful nurses. I think you'll be very impressed."    Will and Angie B.

I'm a heavy truck technician for the city of Austin, Texas. I work on fire trucks and EMS trucks. I would like to tell a man's point of view of how the tubal reversal surgery went. An overall grade of A+ to Dr. Berger. Last October my wife and I found out that she was pregnant. I am so excited and so are the kids about their Mom's pregnancy."  Ernest L.

"Thanks to help from you my husband was able to celebrate his FIRST Father's Day. What a miracle!"   Heidi K.

"Thanks again for helping to make my husband a daddy. It means the world to us!"   Tammy and James LaB.

A Light Perspective From One Couple

"When my DH went in for the SA a very loud nurse waited until he got right in front of the nurses station where all of the nurses (hot ones he said) were sitting and said to him in her booming voice "You're here for the semen sampling?" My husband being the confident man he is replied back "Why no actually, I have never and will never sample any semen. I can certainly produce a sample on demand though!" LOL! We have had more fun telling that story!"

"The entire experience with Dr. Berger -- from a husband's perspective -- has been great. Dayna felt very comfortable with Dr. Berger and his staff right from the start. She spent considerable time on the website pouring over the details of the procedure and everything regarding what to expect throughout the entire experience. She came back just raving about everything (I stayed home and watched the step kiddo while her mother accompanied Dayna) and less than 3 months later, we're pregnant.

I've been pretty much forbidden up to this point to read her posts on Dr Berger's message board, but once she made the announcement to the community, I read a few posts. And I thought my career (software engineering) was full of lingo! BD, BFP, DH .... you guys need to put up a dictionary of these terms! If nothing else, the DHs would get a good belly laugh outta all this!!"
