I know it's been something I wondered, especially since a short-tuber friend of mine was warned about higher chance of M/C, I THINK because of implantation issues? So I would be leaning toward that being a "yeah, that's very possible" but that's JMHO based on what some others were told... not direct knowledge. It might be something to check out, though. Do a kind of "how many DPO did you get a postive" and "lengths" to see if there's a correlation, but then I'm a research nut... LOL. Keep the thread alive... maybe we'll all find out something interesting. Blessings

This is the best information I can gather and I got it from Dr. Berger's website. Pregnancy outcomes by fallopian tube length
Long tubes were also associated with better pregnancy outcomes than short tubes. Among women with average fallopian tube lengths measuring 7.5 cm or longer, 59% gave birth or had an ongoing pregnancy. Birth/ongoing pregnancy rates declined while miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy rates increased with shorter tubal lengths (Table 7). The ectopic pregnancy rate after tubal reversal is higher than the 2% ectopic pregnancy rate in the general population.

WOW, Nicole & Jason, you just gave me a lot of hope. I too, am a short tuber. To receive your BFP so soon, (8dpo) give me hope to test in 4 days. I'm 4dpo right now, but I'm trying to be patient & wait a day or two longer. Don't want to set myself up for disappointment. CONGRATS anyway !!

Not wanting to be the sour grapes, gloom and doom person, but I was at the RE this past Friday and what she told me was that it is harder to get PG with the shorter tubes because 1) it is harder for the tube to pick up the egg because there is not enough length to move around the ovary and 2) if you do get lucky enough to catch the egg, then there is usually not enough time for the embryo to develop after fertilization to implant properly. There are cases each week on the pg report that totally dispute this information, but this is just what my RE told me. I think it is better to know all of what you may be facing rather than go into it thinking that just because you've had TR that you will automatically get PG. I wish I had known more when I began this drama last year. Kerrie

Kerrie, that's interesting. First time I've ever heard the explanation that short tubes might not be long enough to reach around the ovaries to catch the egg. That really makes the most sense to me, because while I've heard the "not enough time to implant" theory several times before, I really think that part is bogus. The reason I do is because I've seen a few websites on the development of the embryo and they've all said the egg goes into the uterus on about day 4...and then it could still be a few days before it actually tries to implant. It needs to divide enough before it attempts implantation. (One of these sites is on Nova). So, basically whether the egg gets to the uterus on day 4 - or 2 or 3 - it STILL is not going to implant for up to a few days afterward. I think if us short tubers get lucky enough for our tubes to catch the egg in the first place, then we have as good a chance as everyone else after that point.

Just wanted to post. My TR was 12-15-06, I got BFP on 6-13-07. (After Hsg on 5-01-07, showing both tubes open. and one round of 5omg of clomid) My tubes are 3.0, and 3.5. I carried the baby until 10 and half weeks. I had a D/C end of July, due to baby with no heartbeat. It was in my uterus, and at 7 weeks did have a heartbeat, so I know it can happen with short tubes. Baby dust to all!!
