Good luck to all the girls heading to CH over the next few days. Time is flying! Pretty soon the title of this thread will have to change from "scheduled" because we will all be done! I am just wondering, what are the ages of all the girls on here for april??? I had an appt with my ob/gyn yesterday and he said I was "advanced maternal age"...I'm only 33 That was depressing, I feel so young still. Kim
Posted by Crecia (Member # 6023) on April 14, 2007 05:26 AM :
Hi babybird. I'm 32 and I don't feel 32 at all I had my TR on April 10th 2007 and can't wait to start TTC. My surgery was great L-9.5,R-10.5 now I'm just trying to heal and get back to myself. I'm not to worried about the age thing right now. Crecia
Posted by mamato7 (Member # 10498) on April 14, 2007 09:37 AM :
Kim Sorry but i think your doctor is crazy, "advanced maternal age'' at 33? Im 43, now thats advanced maternal age.I had my 6th and 7th child at age 30 and almost 34 and they were the result of one unprotected act and my mom had my brother only weeks before turning 43 and he was an oops baby, so dont let that doctor make you feel old at 33, I had 3 kids while still in my teen years,2 kids in my 20's and 2 in my 30's.And personally , I thought having them in my 30's was the best time to have kids. And Crecia, with those tube lengths, I wouldnt be a bit surprised to hear that you get a bfp real soon.Good luck to both of you girls....Jessie
Posted by BabyBird (Member # 10834) on April 14, 2007 10:58 AM :
Thanks !! I certainly don't feel like an advanced age mother!! Crecia: your lengths are so awesome. If we could all be so lucky. You will probably be pg before the rest of us april girls get our chance to get fixed up. I hope things go well for you. I know you came from AZ, right?? How was the trip home post-op. I am coming from So. Utah, so I will be flying from Las Vegas. I am worried about the long trip home. Good luck Girls!!!
Kim
Posted by BabyBird (Member # 10834) on April 14, 2007 11:36 AM :
Oh...and Jessie. You have had seven babies?! You are super fertile and should be pg in no time at all. Based on what you wrote your youngest two are about 10 and 14? How do they feel about a new baby in the house? My 14 year old was furious when we first told her, but she's coming around. She likes the idea of dressing a cute little baby up, she says she just doesn't want to change poopy diapers!! Kim
Posted by Crecia (Member # 6023) on April 14, 2007 01:08 PM :
Babybird good question about the trip home since your flying. I was kinda sore and had to walk real slow, but I just took my time getting on and off the plane. If people needed to walk around me so be it cause I could not walk fast and it took me some time to stand up to get off the plane. Just take your time cause you might be a little sore. Thanks mamato7 I'm praying for BFP all around for all of us. Crecia
Posted by mamato7 (Member # 10498) on April 14, 2007 02:24 PM :
Kim,
Yes i have seven kids, I lost one between my third and my fourth, I would have had eight. But just because I was very fertile then, doesnt mean i will be after TR. my biggest obstacle is obviously my age and i still dont know what kind of tube lenghths I will end up with yet. But, all in all , I am hopeful, but at the same time, I know what Im up against.
My two youngest are 13 and my baby just turned 10 a couple of days ago and I dont plan on telling them about the TR. I have a lot of reasons for that but the main reason is that I know they will blab to my mom and she will be all over me about it. I have only told about 4 people and they are , my husband, of course and three of my older daughters. They call this whole TR thing my "mid life crisis".I think they are right. I have 4 grandkids and 2 more due this year, so I will never have a baby shortage here,LOL....Jessie

Ok Im falling apart at the seams over here ladies. We leave Monday for CH. Tr is Tuesday. I know Im in good hands but I cant help but have butterflies. Someone please calm me down! Lol.
Crecia how are you feeling today sis? Whew you have no idea how nice it was to finally put a face to the woman who has become my other rock. I dont know howI would have made it through the last few weeks without you girl! Be sure to check your messenger.

Kristie: You will be awesome. Just imagine one week from now you are going to have to be on here calming all of us that come after you. It is funny how you can be planning to do this surgery for months or even years, and when it finally comes, we are all still a disaster over it! The idea of it having the surgery has been surreal up to this point, at least for me, and to have it actually becoming a reality in only days (for you) or weeks (for me..2) it's hard to deal with all the emotions. When Dh and I went to the Dr this week to discuss my surgery, it was like the whole thing became sooo real. The process of talking about it with my Dr made it so official. silly, I know. My Dh doesn't have any kids so I think that adds a whole extra layer to the emotion and stress of worrying whether or not I will be able to give him a baby. Jessie: mid life- scmid life. You will be great. You were obviously meant to be a momma, so you are following that calling. I have only told my oldest about TR, because my two little ones (8&9), would blab like maniacs, too. It's really nobody's business and we don't need negativity, discouragement or judgmental comments. Only positive baby vibes!!
Posted by BabyBird (Member # 10834) on April 14, 2007 03:27 PM :
oops...my comments about mid life-scmid life were for Jessie.... sorry.

Babybird,
I know exactly what you mean my DH doesnt have any biological kids of his own either. I think that has alot to do with my nervousness. I met Dr B when I went in for my consult last month so I know that we are in great hands!

Kristie, Where are you coming from? Im not trying to give you something else to worry about but if you live on the east cost , we are expecting a HUGE snow storm starting sunday night that could dump 2 to 3 feet of snow , with large hail, on the whole Northeastern area. I live in New York state and we are bracing ourselves for it. If you live anywhere in the area you might want to be sure to check the weather just in case it interfers with your travel plans.Good luck to you and prayers for long tubes!....Jessie

Hello April ladies. I'm doing fine today I have been resting and taking it easy today. I suppose to take my steri strips off tommorrow. I'm still a little sore but I'm healing. For all the ladies who are scheduled for the next few days my prayers are with you that all goes well.
Kristie now I want you to calm down and relax and just get through the surgery so we can be pregnant together, and go through our pregnancies together. everything is going to be ok. I just went through it and I was as nervous as you. Everything is going to be ok. Crcia

Mama I only live about an hour and a half from CH. Im from Roanoke Rapids Nc so thankfully I wont have to fly or else I'd be a complete wreck by now! LOL
Crecia,
Im glad to know you are doing ok and getting your rest like you should. It would be a shame if I hadto come to Arizona and tie you down somewhere! Lol Im feeling a little more relaxed this morning. My best friend is trying to keep me busy today. She has me washing and braiding her daughters hair later so I wont really have a chance to just sit around and think about Tuesday
I will try to call as soon as Im up to it Tuesday. Love ya sis!

Thanks for the welcome! We scheduled our surgery in January we wanted to wait until after the first of ther year and my DH got his vacation time again. After reading all the positive things about Dr Berger and his staff I am excited about meeting everyone. If anyone has had their surgery and has any advice that we might not think about please advice away!

My surgery is April 27, but we are flying out April 25th. My DH does'nt have any children either. I think that is why I am so nervous about after the syrgey and if it will work. I have 4 children DD17 DD15 DS12 DS9 plus I am about to turn 38. Annie

Welcome Annie, I have you beat, I am 43 and probabaly the oldest one scheduled for this month, at least on this thread anyway. I am married for 28 years and we have 7 kids, 4 grandkids and 2 more due this year. All of my kids are from my husband. You probably think Im nuts, my older kids think its a midlife crisis, they are probably right,LOL......Jessie

Jessie I think it's wonderfull children keep us young, they are truly a blessing that I hope my DH and I can share for as long as you and your DH have. If you and your DH have made this choice together than that is all that matters you and your DH must have a lot of love to give best of luck to you let me know how it goes on the 23rd.

Thanks Ladies! How exciting... I know we will meet others the day we go in, but it's fun to know some people who are going through the same thing, and I figure if they aren't posting now, they probably won't post after TR. It's just really helpful for me to know I'm not alone, otherwise I would be going more cazy than I already am! It has also been REALLY awesome to see that there are so many women who have chilren from previous marriages and are now married to men with no children. I truly thought I was one of the only people in the world who married a man with no kids after having my tubes tied. Annie: You are the closest to my date. I totally understand your fear of surgery not working since your Dh has no kids. It is so much stress. And my mom-in-law has no biological grandkids, so that feels like pressure to. Good Luck Kristie...you are next and will be awesome! Hopefully you have lengths as amazing as Crecia's. Hopefully we can add a few more people to this list....Kim Crecia TR April 10th

Posted by Annie G (Member # 10873) on April 15, 2007 04:15 PM :
Kim I'm really hoping that once the surgery is over that maybe alittle of the pressure and stress will go away. We are going to Cozumel in June so I'm hoping that will be our lucky month. Did you and your Dh have a sperm count done?
Posted by BabyBird (Member # 10834) on April 15, 2007 04:31 PM :
How exciting!!! We are also going on a vaction to Fiji in June and are hoping to maybe get lucky while on the trip!! We will be diving so we don't want to get pg before, or else I won't be able to dive, but unless my cycle gets thrown off after surgery, which seems likely by other ladies accounts, I should be ov'ing while there. I hope we both bring back a really good souvenir from our trip! Have the best time in the Mx sun! My Dh did not have a sperm count, although I think it would be a good idea. The only reason we didn't is because we live in a really funny small town and my ob/gyn said that there is no good way to have one done here. The lab doesn't know what to do with them because it is so uncommon here. Isn't that weird??? I told him to call a urologist anyway, and ask. Did yours?? It seems like it's better to make sure everything is working properly before going through the surgery. Have you done anyhting else to prep. I did use an OPK this month at the recommendation of my ob...he said to use it just to make sure I am ovulating. Have you done that?? Kim
Posted by Annie G (Member # 10873) on April 15, 2007 04:48 PM :
Yes we had one done he was a little low , but the Dr said not to worry. No I have not done an OPK, but I was think about it I guess it could'nt hurt. According to my schedule now with out doing an OPK I should also be ovulating when we go to Cozumel. I was also wondering about the surgery changing my cycle have you heard anything. We live in Missouri so we wont meet with Dr Berger until the day before my surgery. Have you already meet with him?
Posted by BabyBird (Member # 10834) on April 15, 2007 05:03 PM :
I haven't met him. I live in Utah, so I will see him for the first time on surgery day...I'm scheduled for monday. I have read several accounts of women who have had their cycle thrown off by anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks...yikes. Some have said they started early, right after surgery; Some have said they were supposed to start and were delayed after surgery. So who knows. I'm sure it is different for every person. I am supposed to start on surgery day, so we'll see. I have heard that zinc supplements can increase sperm counts, you might want to look it up. Kim
Posted by Annie G (Member # 10873) on April 15, 2007 05:13 PM :
Thanks for the info on zinc I will check that out! Every little bit will help!

Scblueeyes that is a good question I don't know but I think you might have to wait until the next cycle to give your body a chance to heal. I could be wrong hope someone else chime in who knows. Crecia

I think ur right I remember reading that some where that you needed to wait until after ur next cycle, but I could'nt find here I had read it. If your due to start the day of the surgery it may stop or push ur period out alittle. Speaking as a nurse if I were u I would wait until June to really start to try to give ur body time to heal. Annie
Posted by BabyBird (Member # 10834) on April 17, 2007 11:04 AM :
Dr. B's recommendation is to wait one cycle, but I keep reading lot's of women's posts on here that haven't waited. However, I watched the TR surgery video last night with for the first time, and based on all that he did, with the incision, stitches and everything, it seems you wouldn't really feel like sex for a couple of weeks anyway.
It seems best to wait one cycle...just to be safe. Kim

Thanks Leslie I'm doing great. Hello BabyBird I'm going to wait the one cycle as suggested. I am not in any pain just cant wait to take out the stitches. I'm not doing much just resting and taking advantage of my 4 weeks off of not lifting right now giving my body a chance to heal. Other then that I'm doing great I have no pain I can get up from a sitting position with no problem, and I can roll over in bed now. Crecia

Thanks Crecia: I am leaving for CH in 10 days and the whole thing still seems sort of surreal. It probablt won't totally sink in until I arrive at the clinic the morning of surgery. Glad you're doing well. Good luck to all the ladies that are before me! Kim

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to check in and see how everyone was doing? I am feeling ok still a little sore but getting around ok. Just a little slower than usual. Everyone at CH was great. I was expecting to be in pain afterwards but it was nothing at all like I expected. Just feels like I did too many sit ups ! LOL
Crecia,
Girl I have missed you. Thanks for updating everyone for me! I am glad to hear you are getting around easier! Cant wait until I can roll over in bed! LOL
To the rest of the April ladies who will be going in the next couple of days you will be fine! I realize now I was worried for nothing. You couldnt be in better hands!

I just have to say thanks to all you girls that have gone before. You guys realy help to ease the anxiety. We leave next Wednesday and my surgery is on Friday. I just can't wait to move to the next step, it seems like we have been waiting forever.I just keep dreaming about the day when I can finally tell my DH we are PG he has been waiting for this for 42 years. You girls take it easy and get lots of rest you have lots of work to do here soon with TTC! I have to say I really look forward to getting on the board everyday. It's nice to have women who understand, all of our friends are our age and are done having kids some of them think we are crazy!
They just don't understand I guess. Annie

Can anybody believe it's April 19th already....Time flies, doesn't it. Annie: I also love getting the board and reading all the posts. We have very few people that know we are doing this, yet it is such a huge deal that you have to have somebody to talk to, or go crazy!!! Annie..I am the monday following you ao we will be really close. Good Luck Leslie, who just became an April girl by rescheduling from May 1st to TOMMORROW because of a cancellation. But she's the only person I had a chance of meeting in person. I wish another April 30th girl would show up here. Kim

Hello April Ladies... I have been posting on a couple of "other" threads and just clicked onto this one today. I had my TR on April 10th and I get to have the stitches out today~whew! I went first on 4/10 Crecia, I think you saw me get up to leave back to the hotel right before you got wheeled in for surgery! I was the one saying I feel great! Well I am still feeling great! Once the stitches get clipped at my Dr.s office this afternoon I'll feel pretty "normal" again, I'm sure! I don't have any pain and I have been busy busy busy taking kids to activities and running errands and such. I had an amazing experience at CHTRC and will be eternally thankful for the skill of Dr. B. It was definitely worth coming all the way from California for me! Thanks for all of the great reading material here ladies (I read all 6 pages) Take care and good luck to all of you.

Kim,
I am only like an hour and a half from CH! My surgery was Tuesday and Im feeling pretty good! Still a little sore but nothing major. Im getting around fine just poking along (thats what my youngest just told me) You will be glad you choose Dr Berger over the local dr. Are you nervous? You only have 4 days to go right? Dont forget to let us know how things go!

Leslie: I am so happy your surgery went well. Take it easy for a quick recovery. I look forward to hearing how you're doing. SC and Kristie: We did so much research online before choosing Dr. B and feel very confident that we made the right choice despite the long trip. You guys are so lucky you live so close. Kim
