I would like to know are the pregnancy rates of patients that come out with 2 tubes higher than patients that come out with 1 tube? If so, how much lower?
Posted by JerseyCouple (Member # 10536) on May 17, 2007 01:20 AM :
higher*

It does not change your overall fertility rate if you have one tube versus two. Although it may take a little longer to become pregnant, overall pregnancy rates are about the same. We see many women who come for the reversal who have always had just one tube and have had several pregnancies and deliveries over the years. Fortunately, it only takes one tube to become pregnant! I am sure some of our patients will share their stories with you here. Best wishes, Julia Smith RN

I have one open tube at 4.5cm. It took 15 cycles to see a BFP. I have a beautiful TR son who just turned 3 years old! It really only takes one tube to get the job done. Jo Ann

JoAnn,
Did u monitor ovulation all 15 cycles? If so how (thermometer/opk)? And were u on any kind of medications (clomid)?

I used OPK's for the first 14 cycles. I temped for the first 8. After 12 cycles I had an hsg which is when I found out 1 tube was blocked. So even though I was Oing like clockwork every cycle, I took Clomid for 3 cycles (12, 13, 14). When AF arrived for the 15th time, I was mentally and emotionally exhausted. I declared a time out from TTC. The only thing I did that month was make sure to BD around the day that I usually would have Oed. So, when I finally conceived, it was totally naturally. When was your TR and how long is your tube? Jo Ann

I have one 3cm tube and got pg 2 right after tr but it was ectopic I am starting my first cycle on ivf next week

I was only on 50mg. But, like I said, I didn't really even need it anyway. Although if you read the research about Clomid, there is as high a conception rate for the month after taking it than as when you are on it. Like maybe it gives your system an extra boost? I did get pregnant with TR baby#2 also naturally last May, but had an early m/c.
