I have begun to get the idea from other posts that I have read; many women would like to hear some promising words/stories of hope regarding short tubes and live births. How many ladies with shorter tubes have carried to term out there?? Please share your stories and give those of us with shorter lengths us some encoragement. Thank you in advance!

I am mostly wanting to get some feedback because of another thread poster who is asking about why so many miscarriages seem to be happening. I guess I am wondering if short tubes are an issue because someone said that the egg doesn't have enough time to develop before implantation is supposed to occur... this little blurp has me "thinking" this little comment has me unable to sleep very well. I just think that I would feel better if some TR Moms shed some experience on the subject for me.

This is a very good question, and one that I have thought of myself. I'll start TTC after I am married 12/29, (TR 6/25), and lengths are shorter than yours (Lt 2/Rt 5). Thanks for asking this question. Lisa

Hi girls, my tubes are on the shorter side, they are 3 and 3.5, after 5 months of TTC, I had an HSG, we conceived 2 weeks later and I am now home with my 4 week old, Finley Grace, it can happen...blessings to all of you, let me know if you have any questions, I will check this thread later today, time to go feed Finley.

I did not carry to term Lila was a preemie (23 weeker). My tubes are 2 and 2.5 I was PG the first month of trying. My OB said the fact she is a preemie has nothing to do with having had a TR. She is my only preemie.

Jules that's wonderful news, I had my TR on 3/15/06, I am going to have an HSG next week and am praying they are open and have wonderful results like yourself... thank you for your post that really gives me hope... My R is 4cm and my L is 2.5cm so I am on the short side as well.... keeping my fingers crossed....

Kat,

I really don't think 4.5 and 5.5 is considered "short"...but if it is, I have 5 on both sides and just had my tr baby 6 weeks ago. Good luck!

Thank you so much for the feedback, it's so wonderful to meet ladies who have "lived the dream!" You are an inspiration for sure!! I have a TR sister who's lengths are 10.5 & 9.5 (or something like that) I consider myself short compared to that for sure. I know there are ladies with shorter lengths than I, but hearing your stories of success are uplifting to us all. My recent concern is what would I do if my tubes turn out to be blocked? Would I attempt another TR or give up TTC all together? So... you are giving me hope and I appreciate that immensely!

Wow, I am so encouraged by all of you! Thank you so much for sharing your successes with all of us "hopefuls!" You are all what will keep me in a positive frame of mind. Please keep sharing!
Kat

p.s. Today I got my operative report from Dr. B (I emailed and requested a copy for my OB/Gyn) "I had it backwards" I'm Rt.5.5 and Lft. 4.5 it also mentioned that my left ovary looks polycystic, but ovulatory. That word polycystic seems scary to me... yikes!

Kat - I have 4.5 left and 4.0 right. My right side is blocked. But I have a 3 year old TR son. It took us 15 cycles to see a +++. When TTC TR baby#2 it only took 4 cycles to see a +++, but ended in early m/c. It has been a year since the m/c, but we are not actively TTC, just not using any b/c.

Your lengths are JUST FINE!! Your time is coming.

I have tubes that are on the shorter side--Lt-3.5 and Rt-5.0. I had my TR 1/3/06 and got my BFP 10/18/06, right after my 39th birthday. I just gave birth to our beautiful daughter, Tristan. Wishing you all the best!!

Hello Ladies,

I had my tubal reversal done 4/13/2006 and one BFP that ended in miscarriage 7/2006. I had a HSG that revealed left tube blocked in 10/2006. My question is because we are short tubers, should we do anything different? Are there any test, beside the normal ones, we should have done?

TR 4/13/2006
L - 4.0 (blocked)
R - 3.5
**Contemplating on having another HSG soon****

Oh my gosh! I just love hearing from all of you!! Your stories are so comforting to me!! Thank you so much... please keep sharing!

Mumm: I hope someone will chime in if they know of something we should be doing differently or some testing that we should check out... does anyone know??

JoAnn: Thank you for your encouraging words you are s nice to share your success with us! Thank you for your kindness.

How many of you have had HSG testing?? (Thanks for the question SJR!)

Keep those stories coming!
Kat

You are most welcome. I remember being where you are at, and it can be a hard road.

I had an hsg done after 12 cycles and no BFP. I saw a +++ on the third cycle afterwards. I don't know if it is related, but had heard it could "clean the cobwebs out of your tubes" so to speak.

Mrs. Bennani, I wanted to share with you a story I was following on the board around 2.5 to 3 years ago. The reason it caught my eye was that this woman tubes were almost the same as mine. 2.5 on each side. Mine are 2.5 and 3 so this lady really encouraged me and gave me so much hope. Her board name was Jen and then numbers after it. She had gotten pg very quick after the TR, within 5-6 months I believe. What I remember most about her was she was so calm about everything, didn't seem to worry or even consider the fact that something could go wrong. It was almost as if she never read the board and didn't even realize the what-ifs. She just posted and said she was pg, gave her numbers and U/S results and went on to have her baby. This board is good, but I believe sometimes its almost addictive. At least with me it has been a couple of times. With me, everything wrong that happens to someone else automatically gets stored in my head and is there when I get that +. I'm not saying its those thoughts that have made me miscarry but I almost wish I wouldn't think of those things and stress over them. Stress is not good for pg. Anyway, she did say that she took vitamins and evening primrose, I think thats what its called. I wish she would still visit the board because her story really was inspiring to all the short tubers. Well, I just wanted to give you hope!!! Good Luck!!! And lets all try to relax and do all we can to enjoy our journeys!!! -Kelli

Thank you Kelli, you bring a lot of insight to the idea that the boards can become addictive (I am sure they can be if you let them) I find that they can also be the support that the doctor ordered at times. It's a double edged sword I suppose. It's an inspiration to share triumphs though, the kind that we have seen here on this thread... I am feeling so hopeful and more at peace just hearing all of these amazing and uplifting success stories...by them sharing I feel strengthened and encouraged not to lose heart. I hope you feel that way too. Please keep sharing, and I hope that Jen will find us to share her story... the more the merrier! "Tough times never last, but tough people do!"... that's a quote from a good book. I appreciate all of you!

I'm also have only my right tube 4cm. I've read lots of success stories, so I know it can happen for us too. Everything I've read says our chances are the same as with two tube, it just might take a little longer.

I have a friend who also only had one repairable tube that is 2.5, she now has a 6mo old little boy and it only took her five months to conceive. She conceived naturally. It can happen!!!

I do too!! We have to keep in touch! This way we can offer support, advise or what ever is needed at the time.

I had a dream the other night that I was sitting in my living room with DH watching tv and I leaned forward and picked up a baby out of a baby seat, I sat back and said to my husband, "I told you it was a boy!" I just remember the baby had a blue onesie on and curlie brown hair like DH. I'm hoping that it will be a dream come true. Only time will tell!!!
