I had tubal ligation And Ablation over 3 years ago. I am currently having pregnancy symptoms.could I be pregnant?

  2. Dr. Monteith

    Elizabeth
You could have either tubal reversal or IVF. In many cases tubal reversal is more affordable and effective than IVF.

  3. Elizabeth Ottinger

When I had a “tubal” done 14 Years ago, I was told that I was “cut, tied and burned” I am not sure what that means, but I do want another child now. Is it possible to do a reversal? Or would I have to go with IVF? Which would likely have better results? What are the expected costs of each?

  4. Dr. Monteith

If your periods return then you may have a chance. We require patients have a regular period of at least three days duration before we consider them candidates. Please call us if you have any questions (919) 968-4656.

  5. Dr. Monteith

    Lindsay
If you are not having regular periods then pregnancy after ablation is not likely. In general pregnancy after ablation is not recommended.

  6. Lindsay

I’m 22 years old now . I had and ablation And tubes tied in aug of 2013. I was made to get it done by my ex husband that didn’t want anymore childern . I’m now with another guy whoms amazing and he has no childern and really wants one and I would love to have a baby with him what should I do? Can I have a baby?

  7. Dr. Monteith

    Melanie
To be considered a candidate for tubal reversal and to have a chance at pregnancy you would need to have a period every month and that period would need to last for at least three days.

  8. Melanie

I had a tubal ligation and ablation in 2006. I have not had a period except a light spotting each month. This past year I have had lots of pain in my lower stomach, dizziness, and sensitivity in my breasts. If I was to have a tubal reversal, is there a chance of me getting pregnant?

  9. andrea

I’m 30 years old and had a tubal ligation and ablation in 2006. Since the procedure i have had periods exactly 21 days apart for 5 days. They are light and are a dark brownish color. I usual don’t see red blood but one or two times after whiping each period. I really want a baby with my new husband. I’ve already talked to my gyeno and she said it would be to high risk. She never even checked my uterus. Is pregnancy still a possibility even though my periods are lighter and not red in color? Should i switch doctors and get another opinion?
    Thanks

If you are not having regular periods of at least 3 days duration after your ablation then pregnancy is not very likely after IVF or tubal reversal.

  11. Renee Cullars

I had a tubal and ablation and no period after the ablation it has been over ten years since both or more. I am 43 and I am having nausea in the moring and know im having a little bleeding everyonce in a while. Is it to late for tubal reverse and the ablation and can I get pregnant?

  12. Dr. Monteith

    Danielle
Possible but not likely. If you take a pregnancy test the answer should be revealed.

  13. danielle

I’m 33 years old and I had my tubes tied 10 years ago. My last period was feb.26 2014. I can’t be pregnant can I?

  14. Dr. Monteith

    Tina
If you are not having regular periods after ablation of at least 3 days duration then pregnancy is not likely with either IVF or tubal reversal. You would need to look into a gestational surrogate.

  15. Tina

Hello I am 36 years old and my husband & I would like to have another child together. I had a tubal in 2005 and an ablation in 2009. I only have had spotting of cycle, nothing serious. Also I have one ovary. Is there any hope for us to conceive in the future? We pray we could have a beautiful baby within the next 2 years. What should we do?

  16. Amanda

I had a tubal done, 4 years ago and an ablation 1 year ago, I have had a period, light, every month until 2 months ago they stopped, I haven’t had a period since January 24, 2014 today is March 26, in the pass week I have been experiencing some stomach pain, lower abdomen which feels like gas, but has been doing this for a week, also fatigue, soreness in left breast, dizzy spells and nausea during exercises, could I be pregnant?

  17. Dr. Monteith

    Amy
Most likely you are not ovulating consistently. You may need to take a medicine called clomid after your tubal reversal.

  18. amy

I had a tummy tuck 2010 & i had my tubes tied that same day my periods have been normal until now 2013/2014 . Im currently 45 days late took a pregnancy test neg. What could be happening dont now but Im thinking of getting tubel reversal this year could i still be able to get preg?

  19. Dr. Monteith

    Terina
If you are having regular periods then pregnancy is possible. Please give us a call and speak with one of our nurses at (919)968-4656 and they can help answer your questions and help you get started.

I had a tubal ligation after my seventh child 7 years ago and then ended up having an ablation a year later due to complications and heavy, painful bleeding. I was told less than 6 months later that over 80% of my lining had either grown back or was still there. I am 36 years old and am now second guessing my decision and would like to have another baby with my husband (who only has 2 biological children). My periods are pretty regular as if nothing was ever done so would I be a good candidate for reversal and pregnancy?

  21. Dr. Monteith

    Laquita
If you are having regular periods then pregnancy after ablation and tubal reversal is possible.

  22. laquita

I am 33years old I have had my tubes tied 6 years ago and a I had an ablation about 2 years ago for heavy bleeding . I am still bleeding 5 to 7 days every month …soo I was wondering can I still get pregnant ?

  23. Dr. Monteith

    Allie
We would like you to have a regular period for several months (at least 3 sequential months) of at least three days duration before would consider you a candidate.

  24. Allie

I had ablation in April of 2013. I haven’t had a period until this month. I know you’ve stated in order to be a candidate for reversal you must have a period. How many months do I need to have a period in order to be candidate? I have a hysteroscopy scheduled soon to check the thickness and condition of my uterine lining.

  25. Dr. Monteith

    Michelle
In general pregnancy is not recommended after ablation because each pregnancy is higher risk but it is possible to become pregnant and have a normal pregnancy. Please give us a call at (919)968-4656 and we can discuss your options.

  26. Michelle

I am 33 years old and very healthy but had an ablation done summer of 2012 on the lower portion of my uterus to control bleeding. I also have had a tubal ligation done in 2002 after my second child, never suspecting I would, 5 yrs later be going through a divorce and starting over. I have met a man who I will be marrying and he does not have any children and we would like to eventually have a child together. After the ablation I consistently had periods and to date have never missed one period and bleed anywhere from 5-7 days long. Do you think it is possible for me to carry a baby after this ablation?

  27. Allie

I researched a drug Provera. Can drug be taken to start period flow after ablation and tubes clamped? Currently I have a very light pinkish substance that lasts for 2 days out the month. If so, could pregnancy occur via ivf or reversal??

  28. Allie

I had my tubes clamped at age 29. In April 2013, I had an ablation at age 31. I’m currently engaged and would love to have another child. Currently, I don’t have a true period. My period consists of a light pinkish substance that’s barely visible for about 2 days. Is it a good possibility that my period will resume again in the future since I had ablation at a young age? Is it any medications that will start my period again or thicken uterine lining?

  29. Dr. Monteith

    Brigette
Tubal reversal and pregnancy are both possible after ablation if you are having regular periods of at least 3 days duration. Please give us a call at (919)968-4656 and we can answer any additional questions you may have.

  30. Brigette

Okay like so many other women on here I was married and between us we had 4 children. I only had two a girl in 2003 and a boy in 2006. I had a tubal ligation and ablation done in 2009 because we didn’t want anymore children. Now we are divorced and I am re-marrying and we would like to have a child together. I have had normal periods for the last year or so but, they don’t last any longer than 5 days and it starts out bright pink and then turns to a dark old blood looking color, sorry for the gross details. Is it possible at this point to even consider pregnancy? Thank you so much for your advice and or suggestions!

  31. Dr. Monteith

    Tara
Tubal ligation is intended to be permanent. They dont come loose. Very likely you have a hormonal imbalance as the cause for your irregular periods. Your doctor should be able to help you with this condition.

  32. tara

Im 33 years old I had my tubes tied only 12 years ago. Injuly i had two periods then in August nothing at all then now here it is September and im having a second one for this month. Is it possible they have come loose and im pregnant?

  33. Dr. Monteith

    Latoya
You could be pregnant or you could have skipped an ovulation. You should take a pregnancy test.

  34. Latoya

I am 39 years of age. I am very overweight as well. I had my tubes tied 14 years ago when I had my daughter by C-section. I also had an ablation done probably 3-4 years ago. Since then my period has been regular without fail every month. It was heavy before the ablation but it is very light now but it was lasting 7-8 days and I was on a 17 day cycle. YES my period was coming every 17 days. Currently I am very late. I had my period in August but it hasn’t come on yet this month. It is a week late and that is never the norm for me. Should I be worried about a possible pregnancy and go to my doctor or could it possibly be me getting early menopause?

  35. Dr. Monteith

    Susie
Pregnancy is always possible with tubal ligation failure. The risk of failure is very low. If you want to become pregnant you should have a reversal. If you dont want to become pregnant then you should not worry.

  36. susie aranda

I’m 41 years old I had my tubes cut and burned. I had a tummy tuck 6 months ago, can I get pregnant? I have the the symptoms like I am but scared to buy a pregnancy test.

  37. Dr. Monteith

    Jenna
No one can give you an exact answer on the chances of getting pregnant. I will almost never say impossible because no one knows with certainty. I say not likely because I feel it is a more appropriate term to use when communicating with others about the reality of the situation. We will not accept patients as candidates for reversal after ablation if they are not having regular periods.

  38. Jenna

Doctor, thank you for your reply. In an earlier post, I read it was completely not possible if having no period. You mention that it’s not likely, but is it even possible? I guess, what are the odds? I saw 0.7% possibility on another website, but I don’t know if that would pertain to me but more of women that still have some period action each month.

  39. Dr. Monteith

    Jenna
If you are not having periods then pregnancy is not likely either after tubal reversal or IVF.

  40. Jenna

I had uterine ablation where I have absolutely no flow. I’ve seen numbers of 0.7% or 1% for women that have gotten pregnant after having ablation. Are these numbers referring to women that still have some sort of period? Because I have no absolutely no flow, would my chance be completely at 0%?

  41. Dr. Monteith

    Jomaris

Any endometrial ablation will damage the uterine lining and make pregnancy more high risk. If you are having regular periods after an ablation then pregnancy is possible but should be considered high risk because all endometrial ablations will damage the uterine lining to some degree.

  42. Jomaris Robles

Had and endometrial ablation done in 2011, had regular periods after, the next month. My periods had been 4 to 3 days long ; instead of the heavy 6 to 7 days . I am 40 years old and my husband is 42 we had 3 boys the youngest one will be 15 and we want to have another baby. We read that since I still can have my regulars periods, my endometrioum is not scarred or was not damaged.

  43. Dr. Monteith

    Marie
If you are not having regular periods of at least three days duration and moderate flow then pregnancy is not very likely either by IVF or tubal reversal.

  44. Marie

So I had my tubes tied a year ago January and had an ablation 4 months after because of heavy periods. Every now and then I’ll have what I think is a period but it only last two days and its very light, especially the last two months. The conversation about having another child has come up lately and we really want to try. Is it possible to get pregnant again?

  45. Dr. Monteith

    Belinda
It is certainly possible to have a baby after ablation. Please give our office a call and we can provide you with more information (919)968-4656.

  46. Belinda

I have had my tube tide after my daughter who is now 14 and when she was 3 years old I got pregenet and had a baby boy then the doctor cut and tided my tubes again. In 2009 I ha the ablation done because of cramps, I have the cramps back now just as bad and still bleed for the first three days, CAN I HAVE A BABY?? I would like to …

  47. Dr. Monteith

    Kstickland
If you are having regular periods after ablation then pregnancy is possible but every pregnancy is considered high risk.

  48. KSTRICKLAND

In April of 2007 I had my 2nd child by c-section, at which time I had a tubal ligation . 3months after giving birth by period became uncontrollably persistent and heavy. In January of 2008 I had an ablation, which is now giving me more of a normal period every 6weeks. I have since divorced my husband 8 years and I’ve been in a relationship with someone else for 4 and the baby talks are coming up. I am 32 1/2 years old and was inquiring as to what your thoughts are. I was already online looking into your center and I am highly interested. Please let me know what you think is or isn’t possible . Thank you for your time .

I had a tubal in 1991 after having twins. I had one child already and did not want any more kids. I met my husband shortly there after. Hehas know bilogical cildren of his own. Before I had the ablation in 2012 we were happy being content wth each other becase the children are all grown. I a 40yrs of age. We now wat to try to conceive. What wuld you suggest our next step/steps should be?

  50. Dr. Berger

Angie – It is difficult to know if the absence of normal periods the past two months are related to changes in your ovulation cycle or to the endometrial ablation. Before considering having a tubal reversal, we recommend diagnostic hysteroscopy to examine the endometrial lining and to look for possible adhesions in the uterine cavity. If hysteroscopy should a normal endometrial cavity, then it should be possible for you to get pregnant after a reversal.

  51. angie

I gave birth in 2010 to my only son and got a tubal ligation 6 weeks later. I had ablation almost a year ago. I had normal periods up until two months ago. I have taken two home pregnancy tests both of which were negative? Should I be concerned and would it still be possible for me to get pregnant if I have a reversal?

  52. Dr. Monteith

    Sacha
I would encourage you to be honest with your doctor. As long as your tubes are not blocked from the ablation then I don’t think there is anything more you can do to become pregnant.

  53. Sacha

I am 34 years old and I had an ablation only in 2006 after a year my periods returned and have been consistent. Although they are shorter 4-5 days only and there is no bright red blood it always looks much darker brown more like old blood. I was unaware when I had my ablation it may cause problems with pregnancy and my husband and I really would like a child. I recently had a routine ultrasound done by my OB to rule out any problems but I never told her I had an ablation because I was afraid she wouldn’t even help me try to get pg. the ultrasound showed nothing wrong and I’m having an x-ray dye test Thursday to make sure I have no scar issues. I had 3 pregnancies with 2 live births and one miscarriage (in between other 2) last pg in 2004. I am taking Clomid now – is there anything else I can do? What’s a reasonable amount of time to try only clomid and if it didn’t work what would be the next step?

  54. Dr. Berger

Crystal – If you have had no periods since your endometrial ablation 5 years ago, it will not be possible for you to get pregnant again.

  55. Crystal

Hello I’m Crystal I live in Florence I have 2 girls.. i want another child bad… but i had and abrasion..and my tubes are tied.. is it possible to have it reversed.. and i have a child? i havent had a period in 5 years cause of the abrasion.. i was told it would be dangerous if i got my ties reversed and got pregant… is this so? My lining was thin.. but can it grow back? need some tips.. on what to do.. Thanks..

  56. Dr. Berger

Miranda – If you are having normal menstrual periods, then tubal reversal surgery may be successful even after endometrial ablation. Before proceeding with the tubal reversal, we recommend and offer a screening hysteroscopy to look inside the uterine cavity to determine if scar tissue is present and whether the endometrial lining has reestablished itself. If the uterus shows healthy endometrium and is free of scar tissue, we then proceed immediately with the tubal reversal procedure. Here is a link to one of our blog articles about tubal reversal and endometrial ablation. If you have questions, you can speak with a tubal reversal nurse at (919) 968-4656.

  57. Miranda

I had a tubal in 2009, knowing I did not want anymore children with my husband… Which is now my ex-husband. My periods were really bad, so heavy that it was making me anemic. So I had the ablation done in 2010 trying to fix the problem. My husband and I are divorced. And I am getting remarried in 3 months! And we would love to have a baby together! I am wondering is there hope out there for us? It is our dream! I have recently started having a period agian. so does this make it more possible?

  58. Dr. Monteith

    Karen
If you are having regular periods after your endometrial ablation then pregnancy after tubal reversal is possible. Please call the office (919)968-4656 for additional information.

  59. KAREN

I have so desperatly regret the tubal (cut and coterized)in 2006 when my son was born cuz 13 months before gave birth to my daughter in 2005 and than a ablation in 2011 aug, becuz my periods were tremendously horrible….i ssooo regret that i had the tubaligation, i want a 3rd child sooo bad and pray evry day ill be blessed…ill take any suggestions please…karen

  60. kary

    That is a blessing. Congrats!
I had my first and only child at the age of 24.
I am 41 years old now.
I was in a bad relationship for about 9 years and decided it wouldn’t be a good idea to have another child due to the relationship. So I had a tummy tuck to tighten all of the loose skin in 2007.

I then had a tubal ligation (tubes cut and burned)in 2009 and endometrial ablation the same time as the tubal. I had terrible pain and bleeding. My doctor told me he would only do the ablation if I would have my tubes done at the same time for health reasons.

I really did not want to have the tubal. I have not had a period since the surgery and my husband and I desperately would like to have another child. We are getting older.

We don’t know what to do. We pray about it.

    Please pray for us.
    THANK YOU

  61. Angie

Congratulation, I pray everything is going well. Your testimony has made me a very happy women and has given me hope as well. I had a tubal ligation 18 years ago and an endometrial ablation in 2010. I truly regret having both done. However after reading your story I’m going to look into having the procedure done too. Please keep me posted.

Thanks So Much for Sharing, It is indeed a miracle in the making!!! God Bless You both :))

  62. Jessica
