Pregnant Single Mom

"Thank you again for the opportunity to have another child."

Hi Dr. Berger,

It has been many years since I last contacted you. You performed my tubal reversal in August of 2001 and we were unsucessful until June 2002. We finally conceived with the help of IUI but miscarried at 6 weeks. We tried IUI several times after without success and we made the decision to stop. We agreed if it happened naturally we would be thrilled, if it didn't happen, it wasn't meant to be.

After many years of trying not to think about it and go on with our lives, my husband's brother and wife had a beautiful baby boy. This put more stress on our marriage and finally my husband decided to move on in his life. I have children from a previous marriage and he has none and really wanted a family. He has met someone and is planning on remarrying with hopes of a family in the future.

After being separated and then divorced for less than a year, I am pregnant (due January 25, 2006). Now, being a single mom was not what I had in mind when I had the TR performed but at least now I know that I was able to conceive naturally and the problem did not lie with me. What is sad is I lost the man I loved for many years because of this and the problem could be his and may follow him through this next relationship/marriage.

With this new development, my turning 41 in August and being single, I was a little shocked. However, I am in no way sad. I'm the exact opposite, I'm having another baby! Maybe not the ideal way, maybe not the smartest way. Fortuntately, I have a good job, a great home and can provide for us. I know being a single mom will be hard; I do not have family around me. I have been focused on my career for the past few years and have moved away from them. I have two children from a previous marriage, the oldest 20 and in college, the youngest is 16. I'm not sure how they will react to having a new sibling but I know they were excited before when I was trying.

The reason for my letter is to thank you again for the opportunity to have another child. Hopefully all will go well and I will carry this one to term. Other than being tired, I feel great! I've never had morning sickness and so far, don't with this one. It's been almost 4 years since my TR but I have to thank you and your staff. This couldn't have happened without you!

Sincerely,

Susan R.

Susan's tubal reversal testimonial

"I had just come home from having an HSG and determined both tubes were blocked. We went in the next month and performed it (tubal reversal) again and we have one tube that is damaged from scar (I'm sure from the tubal ligation, itself). The tube on my right side was open and must have just been a spasm the month before."   Susan R. June 2002
