Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome

"The main purpose for my TR was to get some relief from PTLS symptoms."

Posted via email June 02, 2005

"Dear Dr. Berger, The main purpose for my TR was to get some relief from PTLS symptoms. I am happy to report to you that the first cycle after my surgery my period was "more normal" and this last cycle was NORMAL! After my TL surgery I would start spotting on the 25th day, 26th, 27th, 28th, then start a light period on day 29 and 30, then spot more. I counted 10 days of bleeding. This month NO SPOTTING! I started my period it was for about 3 days, then it ended. I had a right sided pain deep in my pelvis on the right side after the TL. The pain is still gone after my TR! Also, my husband has noticed improved mood with me. MY HUSBAND IS HAPPY! He wanted his wife back and he got it. Also, sexual desire and function has improved! Again, MY HUSBAND IS HAPPY! So am I! Thank you so much for everything.

After my painful pregnancy loss in 2003, I desired another child. I still desire another child. My husband would like another child, but he says we are too old. We are putting it in God's hands. I refuse to take the pill again. I pray every day for God's will in this area for my life. I praise Him that He allowed me to have the TR.

Thank you again for everything. Each month I plan to send you a report on how I am doing. Please keep keeping track of us PTLS women. It will help others.

I am happy to hear that you are preparing anew web page about PTLS. Yes, you have my permission to add my message to this. After my TR my mood swings were terrible. I had terrible crying spells every month. My husband kept saying "I want my wife back." I went to my PCP. He recommended Sarafem (Prozac) and counseling. My counselor thought I was grieving the pregnancy loss (this was a year after the TL) and thought I had a hormonal imbalance. She recommended I see a doctor who specializes in hormonal imbalance. I saw this doctor about 6 months later. After we talked, he felt my problems were due to TL regret mostly. However, I had other problems. My period was every 25 days, light with 10 days of bleeding and I had a right sided pain deep under my scare where I had my TL. Additionally, I had some fatigue with concentration problems.

After my TR, my period is normal, right sided pain is gone. The fatigue and concentration problems are gone. Sexual function and desire are better. My husband got his wife back.

Thank you again. God bless you!!!
