| Mcalister | Hi All, I can't believe what i'm reading? I mean, this kinda explains alot! I dealt with those same things heavy bleeding, going from 3-5 days to 7-10 and I always thought that people who experience "alot" of pain were just overreacting. But gradually mine began to get so bad, I would cribble over in pain everywhere even in public and it was very embarrassing. the clotting time was the very worst! I too for the fist 4 days or so didn't leave the home. I also got bad headaches, and my back aches. I personally thought it had to do with seizure med. I was on then, when I didn't have seizures anymore I was about 29 then and thought it was because I was getting older. But reading all this has really opened my eyes due to the fact that it's just too similar. Does anyone know if Dr's are aware that this is linked to a TR? Does anyone one know if this has ever been addressed in the medical profession? Because if so, TR should then be covered by med. insurance, don't you think? This makes me mad! Ya know, one thing i've learned in life is turning your anger into something productive and positive. Things don't change till someone tries to change them. After my TR ( 4-09-04 yeah!)I think i'm just going to get alittle more educated on this issue check out the stats etc. if nothing else women who are considering the procedure need to be informed of the risks, ya know? Well, on a positive note, at least we have Dr. Berger to help change the mistakes we did in the past! I know for myself if there was 1 thing I would change about my past, it was this. Thank you Dr. Berger and Staff. Toni |
| oliveewe75 | oh my gosh it is so nice to know that i am not going nuts or the only woman out there that has noticed this. my mom and sister both have had tl and nothing they are just fine. so when they and my ex talked me into this i was like ok i just won't have anymore kids. wrong!!! now i have the most horrible periods i have ever had in my life. i use to work with mentally ill teenagers and i remember being at work trying to deal with them and bending over in the floor in pain. the nurse would give so much meds that it would then upset my stomach. and i have always migraines but nothing like this. i have them every month now. i use to just have them every few months. so now i have to depend on someone to take me to the hospital and get a shot that makes me sleep all day. and the next day still drugged up. i want another child but most of all i just want all this to go away. and the mood swings and the fits of rage that is not like me at all. the older i get the worse it is. i will be glad to tr done so maybe most of this will go away. thank you for listening. jennifer |
| virgo_x_2 | I too have most of the ptls symptoms. Some of the worst being the most horrible "cramps" (if that is even the word to use) the very first day of my period. I am afraid to even leave the house for the first few days because at some point through out the day I can soak through several pairs of pants in just a few hours. It seems when the clots pass they just hurt and create a mess no matter how careful I try to pay attention to changing my tampon. I go to college and I can remember one time I wore a skirt thinking, "Well I will feel it get on my panties first and that way maybe it won't end up on my pants to show the world." Well, in between my first 2 classes I had to take off my panties because i did not make it to the bathroom on time. By time I was in my second class I had to rush to the bathroom again. I barely made it on time, the blood had dripped down my leg, all over the floor. I had to clean myself up, then the floor, then try and figure out a way to get to my car without anyone else seeing me. I do not think I had ever been as embarrassed as that before in my life. This just seemed wrong....... I could not figure out why my periods were getting like this. I was only 23 and had just started having my periods again as I just had my 3rd child and stopped breastfeeding her. The very first period I had after the TL I can remember being doubled over like I was in labor pain again. It really did almost feel the same, down to my back hurting, my right ovary having a sharp pain was new though. I never in all my years remember having a period that felt that bad. My husband had to be the one to suggest a hot bath. I didn't know what to think. Well, it has been about 2 1/2 yrs now since that night and my symptoms and pain have only gotten worse. I tell you I really don't need to worry now of getting pregnant. My sex life is nonexistent! I started getting acne right after the TL, too. If all that isn't a reason to be depressed, the constant roller coaster I am on with my impatience and rage is. I feel so bad for my husband and kids because I don't know how to fix this. I went only 6 mo after TL to my doctor and he wanted to write me out anti-depressants, pain killers, and so on. I thought I was peri menopausal also, so he ordered my hormones tested and vaginal ultra sounds-- needless to say all results came back normal and I just looked crazy. So he sent me to another gyn because he didn't know what to do and I had already been to 1 gyn who didn't help at all either. So, this new gyn wrote me out birth control pills, I was thinking,"This is great.... if I had wanted to take these I wouldn't have gotten a tubal!" so I tried these out for a few months (a few different brands) and after getting on an even bigger, more extreme roller coaster, sleeping 18 hrs a day, having extreme anxiety, and being nauseous all day, I decided that enough was enough. I now have another appt. with this new gyn and I plan on demanding they pay more attention to me. Until I get my TR I will be thoroughly making sure all my doctors know exactly what I know did this to me. After my TR I will also make sure they know of any progress I make towards being my normal self without any BCP or anti-depressants! ~Becky |
| February12 | Hi there! I sure can give you a positive report on the outcome of a TR on PTS. Now, my TL was done through a small hole in my belly button. I got fallope rings. That's where the tubes aren't cut but folded and clamped closed with a ring. Ever since the TL, I had heavier periods, horrible mood swings, I didn't feel like myself for the two weeks before my period started. And then when my period did start I had severe pain on my right side. Always my right side. Ibuprofen was like candy to me during those first 2 days. And, the 2 weeks before my period, my husband and I would have horrible arguments. He at one time, talked about splitting up. Until he saw the pattern. He noticed that as soon as my period started the anger left me and I returned to my "old sweet self" again. We decided to have the TR because we don't have any children together and wanted one badly. But, whenever Dr. Berger removed the fallope rings and reconnected my tubes something else good happened. I've had 1 period and am due next week for my next one. I have had ZERO! PMS. I am not an angry person anymore. I feel like myself. And, when I had my period last month I didn't have to take one pain killer. And my flow was normal, not too heavy. I cannot praise this discovery enough! Even if we never have a baby, the surgery was worth every dollar. I have gotten my self confidence back, my sex drive is now normal, and no more arguments! Thank you God! I never realized how much a TL would effect me. I just thought it kept me from being able to get pregnant. But, there is a hormonal and blood flow imbalance with a TL. And Post Tubaligation Syndrome is real!! Good luck with your decision and I hope I've helped you. |
| MWatson | Hi Ladies, I had a tr two years ago and can tell you that my PTLS symptoms totally disappeared after the TR. My very first period after the TR was noticeably better. I would say it took about three months for me to be totally symptom free. I suffered for ten years and the past two years have been terrific. Having the TR was the best decision I have ever made and worth every penny. Good Luck to you and I truly hope you will be able to find the same relief that I did. M Watson |
| CassandraCulver | Dear Chrissie, |
| chrissie1774 | I had my TL in May 2002 shortly after the birth of my daughter. I breast fed her for 13 mos. and had no menstrual periods at all during that time. When I weaned the baby my first period was HEAVY and LONG!!! I figured my body was just adjusting to normal and maybe it would take awhile. It has been over a year now and my symptoms are worse than ever. Even my PMS is monstrous. Is there anyone out there who has experienced this problem? Has TR helped? I want to feel normal again. Help me please. |
