Anyone Having Tubal Reversal Not ONLY To Have a Baby?

Having another baby is is not the only reason some women want their tubes repaired following a tubal ligation. Many Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center patients feel that their tubal ligation was a mistake for religious reasons, want relief from post tubal ligation symptoms, or simply want to feel whole again.

loulou Almost all messages are about having TR to have another baby, but not me... I just want relief from all the bad stuff. So far my doctor can't find want I is wrong, from bleeding after sex to spotting after 2 weeks post period every months. I feel like a live with a pad between my legs all the time. And the mood swings!!!. My doctor put me on birth control pills for 3 months but of course, this didn't work. Any similar stories out there?
Sally, RN loulou--Many of the ladies come to Dr. Berger seeking relief of the symptoms of Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome. I am sure you will hear from other ladies on the board who have had the TR surgery for this reason alone. They can give you first hand knowledge of whether the surgery has helped them with this problem. Best wishes to you and please let us know if we can be of help.

There are alot of women out there with symptom like yours and also slightly different. I chalked mine up to PTLS - Post tubal ligation Syndrome. Dr. Berger is doing a study on this you should email Rhonda or any of his nurses they are wonderful!! We are TTC but when we origionally decided to do the TR it was to help me feel normal and happy - and it did. I cannot believe the change since Oct 9 2006. It is amazing... hope this helps LOL ~ Shiela
Shannon S loulou..I also am looking to do TR becasue of ptls symptoms. I had my TL in February and ever since I have not felt right. For a couple of months I did not know what was wrong. Then I was searching on the internet under tubal ligation just reading and found so many websites about post tubal ligation syndrome. I realized this is what is wrong with me, and I am not going crazy. It was a good feeling to know it was not just me and there are others out there with similar complaints. I also am looking into TR to have one more child (I already have 3), but mainly I want to feel better. Good luck to you!!!!
PTLSBITES I have been in your shoes also ....it is funny when they tell you take birth control pills isn't it ...I was like...ummm why did I have a tubal ligation if I have to take birth control pills...then they told me there was a low dose of anti-depressants that would mask the symptoms. NO THANK YOU! I am wanting a TR for the reason to (PRAY TO GOD) feel better ...it would be ok to have another baby too, but mine is mainly for the effects I have had since my TL in 2002. I hate PTLS - it takes a toll on women. Frown
Shannon S I too was put on anti-depressants because of such high anxiety and depression that occured after my TL. But, I did not feel better and they did not mask the symptoms. I am weaning off of them and I feel better now that I am going off of them (regarding the anxiety part). I still suffer the extreme cramping and pains from the TL. I am ready to have my TR. My one wish is that I had never had a TL because it has messed up one year of my life with bad mood swings, depression, and anxiety. So much that at one time my husband said, "something has to be done", so it is not just me complaining of this. I have tried to tell so many and spread the word to people in person and on the internet to not have the TL.
Simonsen6 (Member loulou~ I too suffer with the bleeding after BDing and also AF for 20 days out of the month - 7 days of spotting before a another 7 days of AF - one week off ( as long as we don't have sex- or I'll spot, then back to 7 days of spotting and round and round we go!
I feel like I wear a pad ALL the time too. Frown
I am hoping to have my TR in February or March 2007. I hope things will get better with this after the TR. Oh, I haven't even mentioned my mood swings- they are HORRIBLE and I am a monster at times. My Poor family. At this point I would also like to have another baby, but if that doesn't happen, as long as these problems go away I will still feel so blessed!
My doctor thinks it's all in my head too. Mad
So I am right there with you!
Good Luck - let me know how you are doing and what you decide to do. Smile
Lots of Love,
Becki
loulou Reading all these messages makes me cry!! I'm not alone thinking I was going crazy for some time. There are so many things different about me since my TL almost 3 years ago. Frown I too wish I never did it. I'm giving myself a few more months to be really sure. (I just got off the birth control pills with no results!!!! Mad ) Anyone know if BCBS insurance pays for this? I live in Georgia and do not know any doctors here who would do the TR. Thanks for your answers... that really helps.
Shannon S Did you mean Blue Cross Blue Shield? I live in Arkansas and have BCBS and they said they will not cover TR.
Shannon S You said you don't know any doctors will do TR. Dr. Berger will do it and for a good price. He is the best tubal reversal doctor. Good luck to you.
PATTIPEANUT Well a good portion of the reason I am wanting to have a tubal ligation reversal is because of the miserable time I have during my cycle each month. Before I had my TL I had very few problems during my cycle. Now I have very heavy bleeding, unbearable cramps, and I just feel miserable in general for about 9 days. I had my tubal ligation in 2002 and am hoping to be scheduling my reversal by the middle of next week. I know my husband is behind me having it done to help me feel normal again!
Shannon S That sounds exactly like me. Since having TL in February, I also have felt miserable with bad mood swings, cramping, very heavy bleeding, and ovulation pain, ovary pain, and anxiety. I really feel having TR will help these problems
loulou Gee,!! Anyone experienced dizziness??? I have headaches, lower back pain and I've been dizzy for the last few days even lying or sitting down. And I'm in a rage... just before Christmas wow!!!. One of the good news is that I have an appointment next Wednesday with my OBGYN to tell her that the BCP didn't work, and to tell her again Mad all about how I feel. She will probably want to give me some antidepressant (like the last time I saw her), but no thank you. Anyway, I will ask her for the transcript of my TL and plan to have my TR after the holidays..let you know.....
Simonsen6 Oh, I get really bad headaches!!!! Where NOTHING will help them go away.
I am so happy to hear there are others that have the same problems as me each month- Not that I would wish these thing upon anyone it's just great to know there are others. I am excited before we know it, it will be January and then hopefully I will be able to schedule my TR. I am SO SO SO excited!!!!
I am happy to hear the birth control didn't help any because I know my doctor wants to try that route too. I wasn't too happy about that....

Wishing you all Happy Holidays
Lots of Love,
Becki
PTLSBITES LouLou....Hey there , I too get dizziness bad at times, light headedness, and off balance like symptoms. Ihate it ...I CAN'T WaiT TO GET A TR !!!! I want a TR for the sake of being able to FEEL NORMAL again ...I really want that most of all - to be healthy and happy for my family I have now !!! Smile Keep your chin up...
sjr Just wanting to say Good Luck, Ladies..I just had my TR on 12/9/06 and can't believe how great I feel...The staff is amazing and you'll be soo glad you did it and think, why did I wait soo long? Smile
