| Wanting a Third | What makes you better - or different - than an (unnamed) Ky doctor? I won't say his name. I am just making sure you are the best one. Thanks. |
| stephg124ny | I want to chime in because I researched "said doctor" quite extensively. I didn't like his attitude towards women. I didn't like his staff's attitude. They were all about getting you to schedule but not so much about answering questions. If you request his literature (which I did) he slams Dr. Berger's methods in a very undertoned, underhanded way. He also does IVF, so I believe his pregnancy statistics (if he has any) are slanted by including that. He doesn't keep a statistical database like Dr. Berger. If you are overweight, he charges extra for the surgery instead of counseling you about the risks of anesthesia due to excess weight. I believe that if you have to knock someone else down to build yourself up, then you aren't the doctor for me. He claims that the use of a stent (which Dr. Berger uses to determine if your tubes are open at the time of the surgery) damages the tubes so they don't work properly. Obviously that is not the case since I have a TR baby! If I'm not mistaken, he is also the doctor that wants a picture of you in a bra and panties to determine your weight issues. I didn't get far enough in the process to do that, but I believe that might be him. I could be wrong on that though. Anyway, I did my research and found Dr. Berger to be much more professional and honest about the surgery and its various possible outcomes. Give the other doc's office a call, and then call Dr. Berger's office. You will be able to see a difference immediately! Good luck with your decision. I would strongly recommend Dr. B over any other. | Wanting a Third | Yes, that is him. I didn't like that either the bra and panties thing either. |
| John, CST | I am not Dr. Berger and by no means do I intend for this to be his reply. However, I believe that what makes Dr. Berger better is the fact that he truly cares about his patients. He will not schedule you just for the fun of it! He thoroughly looks over all the information and will in turn give you an HONEST answer. If he feels that your tubes are not repairable and that IVF will be a better option, he will tell you just that. He takes his craft very seriously along with those who work with him on a daily basis. If you have any questions and/or concerns feel free to contact us. The nursing staff here is top notch and will do all that they can to alleviate any concerns. John CST |
| stephg124ny | I figured I'd add one more "smart" comment! If he wants a picture of you in bra and panties then he should send one of himself in boxer shorts. After all, we wouldn't want a doctor that didn't take care of his own health, right? Just a thought.... Steph |
| Wanting a Third | That is a wonderful idea. |
| MitziMay | Oh Steph -you make me laugh... Wanting a Third, please read the "remember it just takes time" thread. There are my deepest intimate feelings about my tubal reversal journey and Dr .Berger. They weren't written "for you" necessarily but you will get the idea of what his patients think and feel of Dr. B. Good luck to you in whatever you decide! Sending you blessings, prayers and love in Him, Mitz in UT |
| Cathy Newton, RN | Thank you all for your comments! I would like to add, Wanting a Third, that in addition to everything else mentioned here, Dr. Berger simply has the most experience with tubal ligation reversal surgery. Experience equals expertise. His technique is proven successful time and time again. All the smiling babies in the pictures on our testimonial pages are the proof of that! Please let me know if there is any specific question regarding Dr. Berger, the surgery or our center that I can help you with. cathyn@tubal-reversal.net |
| Andrea Kelly | I don't know about this other doctor but I am glad I choose Dr .B and staff. You can tell that they are very caring and concerned with each patient.. And that says a lot to a person who is going in to the unknown. It is important to be treated kindly and be well informed about everything to ease any stress and worry. I do believe Dr. Berger is the best. Since my TR I have been comfortable and not in any pain. This man is a blessing from God - he and his staff...My experience at Chapel Hill was the best and glad I went there.. I wouldn't have done anything different but just gone there sooner.... He has a genuine concern about people and that with his experience makes him the best doctor...and he is surrounded by the angels who work with him helping to correct our mistake and bring forth more beautiful little angels......Just from my experience, I would say you will be in the best of hands...... |
| MommyMo | Thanks to all of you--I feel more informed about Dr. B and about the KY dr. Yes I looked at him too but I am appalled at the bra and panties thing. Glad I didn't return his phone call!! There is another doctor closer to me (in GA). But still Dr. B is better, especially after watching the DVD. |
| LeslieA | Wanting a third- I just had my TR yesterday a.m. and I am so glad I chose Dr Berger. He as well as everyone else in his office could not have been more kind. I was well taken care of and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to have this done. I found them on the internet along with other facilities, but I believe God kept guiding me back to their site. We came all the way from MN and I never had one regret making this decision. Good luck to you. |
| Webmaster | Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center is the only specialty center worldwide for couples desiring more children after a previous tubal ligation. Dr. Berger and his staff provide the highest quality and most cost effective patient care. As a member of Dr. Berger's staff it is soon obvious that his success is due to his attitude. He demands the best from himself and works tirelessly on maintaining and improving all aspects of Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center. This is reflected in the outcomes for his patients - read these message boards extracts to hear in patients own words why they are glad they chose Dr. Berger. |
| StephC | Wanting a third- Glad you have so many great and informative replies. Mine is that it is not Dr. Berger's place to convince you why he is the best (though he undoubtedly is). It is YOURS to research why he is and make your own informed and educated decision. YOU are your own health advocate, not ANY doctor. And respectfully, it seems that it is a "no-brainer" on this decision. Any half-hearted research into the subject proves out one choice only. Dr. Berger. Research this and you will find the answer to your question without much effort. StephC edd:7-15-06 |
