Gary S. Berger, M.D.
Medical Director

"Tubal ligation reversal as outpatient microsurgery results in fast recovery, low cost, and a high pregnancy rate.

This approach to tubal ligation reversal makes it the best option for women who have undergone tubal ligation and who want a second chance to have more children."

Why choose Dr. Berger for your tubal reversal?

Dr. Gary Berger developed the technique of outpatient tubal ligation reversal. He has the most experience with this procedure of any reproductive surgeon worldwide, having performed over 7000 tubal reversals. During the past 30 years, he has introduced a variety of improved techniques that simplify the operation, minimize pain, and speed recovery from tubal reversal surgery.

Success of tubal reversal

The success of tubal ligation reversal depends on several factors, including a woman's age, the method of tubal ligation, and remaining tubal lengths. The best way to find out what your prognosis may be after tubal reversal is by reviewing the operative report from your tubal ligation. A copy of your operative report can be obtained from your doctor or from the hospital where your tubal ligation was performed. We provide a Records Release form that you can print and fill out to have your records sent to us.

If you are sending your records - instead of having the hospital send them - please attach the Fax Cover Sheet with your contact information. Dr. Berger will review your records and one of our staff will contact you within 24 hours of receiving them.

Pregnancy after tubal reversal

We ask patients to inform us as soon as they have a positive pregnancy test. The main risk of tubal ligation reversal is a long-term risk of tubal pregnancy, occurring in approximately 10% of pregnancies after tubal surgery. Detected early, a tubal pregnancy can be treated medically to avoid damage to the fallopian tube and the need for additional surgery. When a woman has had a positive pregnancy test, we recommend following serum HCG assays twice a week and having a vaginal ultrasound exam when the HCG levels reaches 1500 to look for the gestational sac. We maintain long term contact with our patients to be of assistance whenever needed after their surgery with Dr. Berger.
