| ChucksGirl | I have been reading for awhile here and on other boards and my DH and I want to have surgery by this summer. With all the information that is out there on other sites, what made you guys decide to use Dr. Berger? Any advice is appreciated. Kitty | |
| chelleshore18 | Hi Chucks, I had my TR a year ago. I, too, was skeptical about traveling from Maryland to NC just because his rates were cheaper than close to home. I did a lot of research, however, and was very impressed with Dr. Berger's credentials. The deciding factor, however, was the great communication and openness on this message board. I chatted with a few ladies who had already undergone the TR and learned from them. I have not gotten a BFP yet, but I will tell you that mine and my husband's experience at Chapel Hill was wonderful. The people there are so caring and understanding, the facilites are immaculate, and the Dr. Berger has the procedure down to a T. I was thrilled with pre-op treatment, even giving a warm water bag for the belly, because Dr. Berger had read that it promotes healing. THe post-op was wonderful... and the staff was wonderful to my husband. I would not have traded that experience for anything. I am so glad we chose Chapel Hill. Good luck with your decision! | |
| Jennifer K.Garza | Hi Kitty I chose Dr Berger because he was everything we were looking for. When I had a question, I emailed a nurse or someone on the Tubal Reversal Message Board and it got answered right away. There is a TR doctor where I live and the price was close to the same. Actually I spent more going to Dr Berger with the airfare and hotel because I felt that I had one chance at the surgery and I wanted to go with the best. To me this is something that no one can help you decide. It has to be what you feel is right for you without any regrets no matter what the outcome is. I haven't gotten my baby yet, but I have no regrets whatsoever. Good Luck deciding. Jenn Texas TR 2/17/06 | |
| Emmie | Hi Kitty, I'm from the UK and after getting all the information together on the various doctors that do this kind of surgery there was no doubt on going with Dr Berger. As far as I can see Dr. Berger is the only doctor who performs 4 tubal reversals every day which was the deciding factor for me as experience can't come any better. I had it done 4 weeks ago and Dr Berger and his staff are very welcoming and caring and experienced in what they are doing. As far as we are concerned it was definitely worth every penny. Good luck with your decision. | |
| empty nested | These reasons are not listed in order of importance... 1. The very detailed information he provides on the web site. 2. I see that he and his staff respond to questions asked on this message board. 3. His credentials 4. The DVD of the actual surgery 5. The number of TR surgerys he does 6. The follow-up care after surgery (How many places would send a nurse to your hotel room?????) 7. The follow-up care into the early stages of pregnancy 8. The testimonials from past TR patients 9. The prompt response after sending my TL Op notes and how warm and welcoming Cathy was when she called. 10. The cost of TR at Chapel Hill. Way cheaper than anywhere I have found....for those I would trust anyway. 11. The Berger Baby Tee's are just too cute!! If you click on HOME then put the words "Why Dr. Berger?" in the SEARCH you will come up in all the different responses that have been given each time this question has been asked. | babydean | I had my surgery done February 15,20 07 and I was so impressed with this dr and the nurses. First, it's the friendliest bunch I've met. Second, it's cheaper - however, cheaper doesnt always mean better. However, if you do some reading you will soon see that Dr. Berger is a man who not only is well respected and has education on TR , but this man does this 5 days a week. He only works on fallopian tubes. He knows what he is doing! I have never had a doctor explain in such detail and I truly believe he was the best decision me and my dh could have made. As to whether I get pregnant, time will tell and if God sees it fit. But I would never regret going to Dr. Berger. You walk in an office filled with books about babies that women have had after he performed their tr. If the pictures of those babies isn't enough for you to trust in him, I'm not sure what else to say. As for me, he gave me my fertility back and I feel so much better. Also he gave a couple wanting so badly a baby hope, so if you pick him you will make a great decision. If not, I'll still pray for you and that you one day have a baby. | |

| Vicki M. H. | Ditto on everything already written and we chose Dr. Berger after thorough research. My best reason for you is that I got a baby out of it! Good luck to you! Vicki | |
| Melissa In NC | When researching Dr Berger the question I asked on various websites was... "WHY NOT DR BERGER??" I never received an answer to that... Best of luck to you he really is THE best I am proof! take care Melissa TR 1/12/06 EDD 10/25/06 *BRADY* born 10/21/06 8 lbs 5-1/2 oz 21 inches | |
| Eddie, ST | Hello Chucksgirl, I am glad to hear you are interested in TR, making yourself well informed about it, and Dr. Berger. Speaking as an employee here, Dr. Berger's credentials speak for themself. I would like to mention Dr. Berger's passion for this surgery; he is very concerned about his patients and their outcome. I prefer to define his work as a global experience, meaning he not only follows his patients before they enter our doors, but also after they leave. He requires for his staff to provide a complete package to each and every patient, providing them with top-notch health care. He has a genuine drive to make every operation a success with the hope that all women having the procedure will become pregnant. I hope my input will help your decision, and that you decide to come to Chapel Hill to visit us. I also want to say Thank You to all of you for such kind words about our work. Eddie, ST | |
| Mary-MI | I searched for months on the internet about having the reversal procedure done. I kept coming back to Dr. Berger. It seemed to me that he had the most knowledge and his staff was so quick to answer any and all of my questions. When I arrived there and started meeting different staff members, I knew I was in caring and loving hands. I can honestly say, all the cares and concerns I had disappeared then. Then I met Dr. Berger...and he was very nice and guinely concerned. Not only did he repair one of my tubes, he corrected 3 ugly scars from 2 previous C sections and an appendectomy. They followed up with me the next day and the coming weeks. I don't think you or anyone else can go wrong with this wonderful team of medical professionals. Best wishes to you Kitty | |
| Hollyswarren | I went to a local Dr and was given the internal exam and quoted a price that blew my mind.. This Dr made me feel old and like there was no hope.. He pushed IVF.. I left crying and feeling hopeless.. Then I went on the computer and called Dr. Berger.. I asked if there was any hiden cost and there really wasn't.. Sara gave me facts on every thing I ask.. I went down there with camera in hand so I could get pictures of everyone I talked to.. I called Sara every day for two weeks and she never once seemed anoyed..I had my TR done 2/15/07 my one tube measures 10 cm and the other 8 cm.. DR B is the best along with his staff.. They are like family.. Call or E mail them they are great.. | |
| georgiagirl | I've been in the medical field for 10 years, therefore I researched for a long time. Dr. Berger has excellent credentials, experience, concern for the patient, caring staff, and this is his specialty! This is his passion! Good luck in your decision, and we will be glad to answer any questions you may have. You won't regret choosing Chapel Hill. It was one of the best decisions I have made. | |
| Tanya from VA | In no particular order: 1) VERY reasonable rates 2) quick responses from his staff with my TL report 3) the message board had nothing but praise 4) the DVD 5) credentials and website information 6) quick response with any and all questions I had and fully explained anything I was concerned about 7) no false promises or guarantees 8) availability of the staff after hours, and the fact they encourage you to call with ANY problems or concerns After meeting him and the staff I was positive that I had made the right choice. The accomodations were excellent and I was asked how everything was. The pre-op nurses were friendly, helpful and reassuring. My dh was offered coffee and spoken to like he was involved, not just some third party that was waiting. The nurse that did the post-op visit was not rushed or hurried. She was friendly, thorough and geniunely kind. Even now - 6 months after TR I still get quick responses to my emails and solid advice. As a matter of fact, I emailed Dr.Berger directly recently and he emailed me back within two hours on a Friday night - with questions to my concerns. I truly feel like he's "my" doctor even though he does this 4 times a day five days a week. I don't get that kind of response from my family doctor that I've known for YEARS. Simply - I've never felt for one minute that this was about money or that I was a "number" or statistic. I've been treated like a patient and someone that they care about. Dr. Berger and his staff are the best!!! Tanya TR 9-7-06 | |
