A Personal Choice
Our Facility

In December 2013, we relocated to a beautiful, state-of-the-art surgical facility in Raleigh, North Carolina.  We now perform surgery in this new facility which is exclusively dedicated to surgery of the fallopian tubes, vasectomy reversal, and minimally invasive vasectomy.

Our patients now have easier access to our reversal center from Raleigh-Durham International Airport, stay in one of two exclusive hotels located in the trendy North Hills Mall of mid-town Raleigh, and are within walking distance of shopping, restaurants, and entertainment.

We want your procedure to be more of a life’s special experience and less of a medical procedure.

    Tubal reversal general inquiry?

    1. Dr. Monteith says:

We should be able to help you. We can reverse most tubal ligation procedures.

You should send us your tubal ligation reports for a free review and we can let you know if you are a candidate for reversal surgery. Your reports can be obtained from the medical records department where your tubal ligation surgery was performed.

We charge $6400 total plus $125 to schedule and we are located in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Please be aware that starting April 1st 2019 the fee for reversal surgery will increase to $6,900 and the scheduling fee will increase to $150. If you want to avoid the higher fees then you should schedule your surgery before April 1st or start a Reversal Prepayment Account.

Patients pay in full and out-of-pocket at the time of scheduling. All you have to pay for in addition to the surgical fee is the cost of travel, hotel, and food.

On average the chance of pregnancy after tubal ligation reversal is about 60% if you are under age 42.

We do have a prepayment tubal reversal plan that allows you to save towards your reversal over a 3 year period.

Although $6,400 seems expensive…the alternative treatment in-vitro fertilization (IVF) average $12,000 to $14,000 and is about 40% successful!

The main advantage to tubal reversal is that every month you have a chance and you can become pregnant more than once.

The following link will answer most of your questions about reversal. This is the MOST HELPFUL INFORMATION to read when considering reversal at our office. Each question has a link to more information about the question:

So i had the essure sense 2013. And i want another baby i did have novassure done in 2016.but i feel like that ablation didnt do anything to me i do have regular periods for 6 days not heavy as it was before but i do i was wo ndering will i b a candidate for the reversal? I live i conneticut and i would def take the trip for it hope to hear from you soon thank you

    1. Dr. Monteith says:

      Yajaira
In general it is recommended that you do not become pregnant after having an ablation procedure.

Tubal reversal and pregnancy are possible if you are having regular periods of at least 3 days duration after your ablation. All pregnancies after ablation are considered high risk. Most IVF doctors will recommend using a gestational surrogate. IVF costs average $14,000 and you will have to pay the surrogate even more.

If you are not having periods then we would not consider you a candidate for reversal. There is no medical treatment to make your periods return.

Ablation will decrease the chance of pregnancy because it permanently damages the lining and muscle of the uterus.

If your periods are light then you do have some functioning endometriumm but we are not always certain if it is enough to allow for pregnancy. There is no accurate way to be certain.

We cannot provide an accurate percentage about the success of women getting pregnant after reversal with a prior ablation because there are no large scale studies looking at this. We have had women become pregnant naturally after tubal reversal with a prior ablation but don’t have a large enough group of these patients to provide meaningful statistics.

Studies looking at women who have become pregnant after ablation show that about 50% will miscarry and about 50% will have live born babies.

You should read these six articles I wrote about ablation, reversal, and the risks of pregnancy: Tubal Reversal and Ablation

The ablation will decrease the chances of pregnancy but if you are having regular monthly periods of at least three days duration then pregnancy is certainly possible. If you are not having regular periods then I would advise against a reversal because pregnancy is not likely.

In general pregnancy is not recommended after ablation because each pregnancy is at higher risk; miscarriage, growth restriction, early delivery, c-section and adherent placenta. The literature suggests pregnancies are at higher risk but many will do well.

It is possible to become pregnant after having an endometrial ablation and then a tubal reversal and have a healthy pregnancy if you are having regular periods of at least three days duration every month. Please call us at (919)977-5050 if you have any additional questions about tubal reversal.

To be considered a candidate by our office you need to be having regular periods (every month) and these periods need to last for at least three days.

All patients with ablations need a consult with me (Dr Monteith) either by phone or in person before they can schedule reversal surgery.

  3. Angela says:

My tubes were buned and cut is it still possible to get that reversed

    1. Dr. Monteith says:

      Angela
We should be able to help you.

Reversing burned tubes (also called tubal cauterization or tubal coagulation) can provide a good chance of success. The chance of pregnancy after reversal of burned tubes can be as high as 60% to 80%.

You can see our burned tube reversal testimonials here: Testimonials of Successful Reversal of Burned Tubes

If you would like to get started then the best first step is to send us your tubal ligation records for a free review.

Your tubal ligation records can be obtained from the Medical Records Department in the hospital where your tubal ligation was performed. Occasionally your doctors office may have the records. Sometimes patients may not be able to obtain their tubal ligation records. We can proceed with surgery without records because we can reverse most tubal ligation procedures.

We charge $6400 total plus $125 to schedule and we are located in Raleigh, North Carolina. Patients pay in full and out-of-pocket at the time of scheduling. All you have to pay for in addition to the surgical fee is the cost of travel, hotel, and food.

We do have a prepayment tubal reversal plan that allows you to save towards your reversal over a 3 year period. You can find out more information about our prepayment plan…and answers to many other questions by following the link below to our Frequently Asked Questions page.

I have my medical records where should I send them to??

    1. Dr. Monteith says:

You can send us your medical records by following the information found on our Contact Us page. Follow this link: Contact Us

  5. Shandrekqa says:

Hello I had my procedure done in 2004 after 3 c-sections but I met the love of my life and I want just one more. Can you make my dream a reality??

    1. Dr. Monteith says:

We should be able to reverse your tubes. You should consider our screening laparoscopy because of your history of c-sections and the possibility of scar tissue.

We charge $6,400 for tubal reversal surgery. You should send us your records from your tubal ligation for a free review. Sometimes patients cannot get their records. Even if you cannot obtain your records we would perform tubal reversal for you because we can reverse most tubal ligations most of the time.

Please be aware starting April 1st 2019 the cost for tubal reversal surgery will increase to $6,900. The scheduling fee will increase from $125 to $150.

Tubal reversal can be 60% to 70% effective. The other treatment to become pregnant is In-vitro Fertilization (IVF) and this treatment cost averages $14,000 and is about 40% effective for each try.

Tubal reversal is possible when you have a history of multiple c-sections. We have many patients who have successful reversal and pregnancy with a history of c-sections. The biggest concern with multiple (3 or more) c-sections is the possibility of severe scar tissue. If severe scar tissue exists then reversal may not be possible.

We estimate that about 1 out of 12 women with 3 or more c-sections will have severe scar tissue that can make tubal reversal more challenging and in some cases not possible. For these patients we offer a screening laparoscopy. You can consider this similar to a surgery insurance policy.

The laparoscopy costs an additional $1,500. The screening laparoscopy fee will increase from $1,500 to $1,750.

If you choose to have a screening laparoscopy we can look with a camera during the surgery and see if you have severe scar tissue. If you have severe scar tissue we can often make a different incision…so this can increase the success of your procedure. If your tubes are not repairable or the scar tissue is too severe then we would offer you a refund of your surgical fee.
