Surgical Complications

Our Quality Management team collects data on every surgical patient and monitors reported surgical complications.

We maintain an extensive follow-up for the development of post-operative complications. Patients are provided a 24-hour emergency contact number and nurses are available for consultation during business hours. We actively track operative complications and focus our investigation on surgical site infections and unanticipated visit to doctor’s office after surgery.

Ectopic pregnancy

The main risk of tubal reversal surgery is the risk of ectopic pregnancy. The risk ectopic pregnancy after surgery at our facility is 10% to 15%. To help minimize the risk of ectopic pregnancy we encourage all patients to follow-up with their local physicians and to begin early pregnancy HCG monitoring as soon as they discover they are pregnant.

In our letter of recommendation to patients physicians, we provide the most current and up-to-date data on the adequate diagnosis and medical treatment of ectopic pregnancy. When this protocol is correctly followed the risk of a ruptured tubal pregnancy is less than 2%.
