Tubal ligation reversal surgery at our center takes approximately one hour and no overnight hospital stay is required.
The advanced surgery techniques used by Dr. Monteith result in a low cost outpatient procedure that has produced the most tubal reversal babies born worldwide.

Screening laparoscopy
Unique to our practice

We are the only center offering patients an insurance policy during tubal ligation reversal surgery: Screening laparoscopy.

We never require a screening laparoscopy. This procedure is always optional. You should think of the optional screening laparoscopy as you would an insurance policy.

Although we are able to repair most tubal ligations, we offer patients who desire more certainty about their surgery an optional screening laparoscopy procedure. This procedure allows a quick evaluation of your fallopian tubes using a camera inserted through a small incision made inside your belly button.

If tubal repair is not possible then patients who choose the screening laparoscopy option will receive a refund of their surgical fee!

Patients who choose to have a screening laparoscopy at the time of tubal reversal surgery will pay (tubal reversal surgery fee + screening laparoscopy fee). If we cannot reverse at least one tube then patients who choose to have a screening laparoscopy will be refunded their tubal reversal surgery fee.

hey. I am 35 years old and I had my tubes tied in 2008. I have 6 children and I want a baby by my husband. I have high blood pressure and GERD. Am I at high risk? I really want another baby by the time I am 40. what can I do?

    1. Dr. Monteith says:

You should not be at high risk because of the conditions you list. You should not delay your decision for too long because it does become harder to get pregnant with increase age. After age 42 your chances of pregnancy will begin to decrease.

We should be able to help you. We can reverse most tubal ligation procedures.

The first step to see if you are a candidate is to send us your tubal ligation reports to us for a free review and we can let you know if you are a candidate for reversal surgery.

Your reports can be obtained from the medical records department where your tubal ligation surgery was performed.

We charge $6,900 total plus $150 to schedule and we are located in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Patients pay in full and out-of-pocket at the time of scheduling. All you have to pay for in addition to the surgical fee is the cost of travel, hotel, and food.

On average the chance of pregnancy after tubal ligation reversal is about 60% if you are under age 42.

We do have a prepayment tubal reversal plan that allows you to save towards your reversal over a 3 year period.

Although $6,900 seems expensive…the alternative treatment in-vitro fertilization (IVF) average $12,000 to $14,000 and is about 40% successful!

The main advantage to tubal reversal is that every month you have a chance and you can become pregnant more than once.

I am a 45 year old female in 2 months I will be 46. I desire to have my tubes untied.I had 4 c-sections…Is there still a chance for me. Can I get my egg injected to have baby if i cant do natural.

    1. Dr. Monteith says:

      Melissa

They will not recommend IVF because you are 45. After age 42 they recommend IVF with donor eggs to become pregnant.

If you want IVF then IVF with donor eggs will provide you with the best chance of becoming pregnant. At the age of 46 the chance of natural pregnancy after tubal reversal is less than 3%.

We should be able to help you with tubal reversal but it is harder to become pregnant with increasing age so I would not delay your decision for too long.

We do have many patients who become pregnant with tubal reversal after age 40. Most of the women who become pregnant after reversal are between the age of 40 and 43.

The alternative treatment is in-vitro fertilization (IVF). Most IVF doctors will recommend you use donor eggs after the age of 42. A single cycle of IVF averages $14,000 and average success is 38% for each try. After age 40 IVF success decreases quickly.

Can you do the reversal if your tubes were burned alao

    1. Dr. Monteith says:

      Courtney
Reversing burned tubes (also called tubal cauterization or tubal coagulation) can provide a good chance of success. The chance of pregnancy after reversal of burned tubes can be as high as 60% to 80%.

Many patients will come to us without records because they know we can repair most tubal ligation procedures…well over 90% of the time.

You should try to get your tubal ligation operative and pathology reports by going to the medical records department in the hospital where your tubal ligation was performed.

You should be able to request a copy of your tubal ligation operative report and a copy of the pathology report (a pathology report is only created when a segment of the tube is removed (typical with tubal ligations that involve tying and cutting the tubes). We can review these records free of charge.

You can personally request your record from the hospital where your tubal ligation was done using our Medical Records Release/Request form: Medical Records Release Form
