| Aurora Member # 4404 | I agree 100% that there are negative symptoms that happen once we have TL. I wanted to share that I had my reversal over 3 weeks ago and have felt so much better with my body. My original reason for reversal is to have another child with my husband and haven't started ttc yet. I was 21 when I had my TL and am now 32. While I had my TL, I had those symptoms of painful menstrual cramping, severe PMS associated with depression and mood swings before my periods, also heavy bleeding and usually clotting. Now with my reversal, my body has gone through a positive change for the better even my husband noticed a change in me before I had my period . No mood swings or depression, I did not have the painful cramps, my period was not heavy, what a relief! I'm so happy that I got a chance to have a reversal, now I feel whole again. CH staff and Dr. Berger were so wonderful. God Bless! |
| alice922 Member # 5061 | Although I like my doctor and I have considered him to be a caring doctor, he just doesn't have much to say when I suggest that I am having these sudden changes after my TL. He just keeps repeating that there has been no scientific link proven between the two and that many women who have TLs may have been headed for menopause (thus the pre-menopausal symptoms) sooner than they thought anyway. I cannot accept that. I am 38 and prior to my TL had no indications whatsoever of the approach of menopause -- 28-30 day cycles, light/regular periods, EXTREME fertility (the longest I ever tried to conceive a baby was 2 months), no PMS/crabbiness to speak of, perfectly normal/healthy sex drive in my opinion - no early signs of pre-menopause. The average age for menopause, as I understand it, is 51 and I have no reason to believe that I would reach that point much earlier than that age. Or, perhaps it could have been believable had the symptoms started creeping up on me after the TL - instead of bombarding me like they did. You know, the whole concept of post-tubal syndrome could more likely be considered "in our heads" if women were describing very different side-effects but every list of side-effects of tubals I have read has stunned me by the mere fact that I can attest to so many of them -- and NONE of them had I experienced before my TL. I still would like to hear from other women who have had the reversal and what their experience has been. Alice922 |
| regretful Member # 4970 | I have had a lot of the same problems and that is one of the reasons I want a reversal if you read the testimonials there was a woman who said her reversal helped out with the neg effect of her TL. |
| StacyC Member # 5044 | WOW, we have very similar experiences. I also have 3 dd's and my last was 1-11-02, I was able to bf but I never was engorged at all. I almost felt as though my milk never came in, but my dd was gaining and doing what she needed to do. My dd weaned herself at 1 though and my other dd's NEVER did that. All the other symptoms are exact. My dr. will not recognize this as PTLS and says there is no such thing, but will TRY to do my reversal. I say no way she will TRY on me. She thinks it is psychological, even if PTLS is psychological it is still a syndrome if this many women are experiencing this. Women need to be informed by the medical field that even though they do not recognize it, there is a % of women that do! Are you also having painful ovulation and cramping ? |
| pam mills Member # 617 | Hi,my name is Pam Mills and I am the Nurse Anesthetist at Dr Berger's. We have had many patients request tubal reversal for much the same reasons you have expressed. I truly hope one of them sees your post so they can answer it personally. |
| alice922 Member # 5061 | I am a 38 yr old mother of 3 girls. I had a TL during the c-section delivery of my third daughter on 12/3/02. Now, just over a year later, I fear I made a big mistake. Immediately following my TL I suddenly started experiencing so many things I had NEVER experienced before: such as an almost non-existent milk supply that caused me to be unable to breast feed after very successfully breastfeeding my other 2 babies, periods every 21 days instead of my usual 30, VERY heavy periods with lots of clotting, EXTREME PMS (characterized by uncontrollable and irrational fits of rage * frustration for several days each month), thinning hair, lowered sex drive and a much more vague but equally distressing sense that I am no longer the same person. All of these symptoms began IMMEDIATELY after my tubal ligation - like someone has thrown a switch . MY QUESTION IS THIS: I am considering tubal reversal for the sole purpose of relieving some of these symptoms -- not to restore my fertility, per se. I do not want any more children -- if I have this surgery, my husband will have an immediate vasectomy. Are there any of you out there who have had a Tubal Reversal for this same reason and if so - what has been your experience ever since? I am very grateful for any input! Thanks in advance...
