Our Practice

Welcome to A Personal Choice! Formerly known as Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center, we have been performing tubal ligation reversal and corrective surgery for blocked fallopian tubes since our practice was created in 1997.

Our practice, under the leadership of Dr. Gary Berger, was responsible for pioneering innovative techniques in microsurgical tubal reversal surgery. These advancements have allowed tubal reversal to be affordable, to be performed in an outpatient setting, and not require overnight hospitalization. Since 1997 we have performed more than 12,000 tubal surgeries and we are responsible for more successful tubal ligation reversal surgeries and tubal reversal babies than any other practice in the world. Under the leadership of Dr. Monteith our practice continues to provide exclusive specialization in tubal surgery in a surgical center devoted exclusively to infertility surgery.

Best place for tubal reversal surgery

We were the first in the world to publish case reports within peer reviewed medical literature on successful pregnancy after Essure reversal and Adiana reversal. Since these initial reports, we have developed extensive expertise in both Essure reversal and Essure removal. Our Essure reversal techniques provide women the chance to become pregnant again after Essure sterilization. Our Essure removal techniques are performed in an outpatient setting and without the need for a hysterectomy.

We set the standard in providing tubal reversal surgery because of our tubal reversal pregnancy statistics, exclusive specialization in corrective tubal surgery, continually updated pregnancy testimonials, and quality of patient care.

When others said it could not be done… we proved it could.

Pregnancy statistics

We don’t provide vague, estimated numbers on the chance of success and we don’t make up numbers. We provide our patients with complete and accurate statistics on the chance of pregnancy after tubal reversal based on our own results collected from surgeries performed on over 12,000 women over more than a decade.

We don’t just tell you reversal works…we took the effort to prove it with our own statistics.

Specialization in tubal surgery

We don’t perform in-vitro fertilization (IVF). IVF is an acceptable treatment for infertility but IVF does not treat guilt, regret, or abnormal symptoms some women may feel after tubal sterilization. IVF does not fully restore the satisfaction some women feel when restoring their ability to become naturally pregnant with their partner. IVF does not allow women the ability to become pregnant more than once and over time. We don’t offer any ‘money back guarantees’ or ‘shared risk’ programs you are promised with some infertility treatments.

We don’t perform cosmetic surgery, Botox injections, liposuction, or other procedures that could distract us from our specialization and the care we provide our patients. Although these other treatments have their place, we have chosen to help women and couples through exclusive specialization in corrective tubal surgery and sterilization reversal. We have chosen to exclusively specialize in procedures we feel make a substantial difference in the lives of our patients, their partners, and their families.

No treatment result can be guaranteed but through our specialization we can offer our expertise in restoring your ability to become naturally pregnant and the hope for a better tomorrow.

Pregnancy testimonials

We don’t show several testimonials from many years ago. We care about each one of our patients and the success of their surgery. As a result, we keep our pregnancy testimonials as fresh and updated as we can. Our tubal reversal babies are the fruits of our patient’s success cultivated by our unique specialization. We love each and every one of our babies and we want to show them off. We encourage all of our patients to report their pregnancies and births and we take the time to respond and to display these comments and photos on our website.

Keeping our baby testimonials and patient messages current takes time and effort…but we think it is well worth it.

Patient support

From the moment you first call our office or send us an email you will get a prompt response. When you call to speak with us you will get a knowledgeable staff person to assist you and answer your questions. While you are a patient at our center you will get personalized attention and one-on-one care. After you leave our center, we will be here for you and we are just one phone call or email away.

As a patient of our practice you will be benefiting from a team exclusively dedicated to the success of tubal reversal by offering you proven results based on complete and accurate statistics collected over two decades of specialization.

Hello I had TL (burnt and cut) when I was 28 and now I’m 36 is a TR possible for my circumstances?

    1. Dr. Monteith says:

Tubal reversal and pregnancy are very possible for you. We charge $6400 total plus $125 to schedule and we are located in Raleigh, North Carolina. Insurance will not pay for tubal reversal surgery. You should send us your tubal ligation records for a free review.

Patients pay in full and out-of-pocket at the time of scheduling. All you have to pay for in addition to the surgical fee is the cost of travel, hotel, and food. Patients stay in Raleigh a total of 2 nights and 3 days. The consultation is the first day, surgery the second day, and postoperative visit is the third day.

We do have a prepayment tubal reversal plan that allows you to save towards your reversal over a 3 year period.

Although $6,400 seems expensive…the alternative treatment in-vitro fertilization (IVF) average $12,000 to $14,000 and is about 40% successful!

The main advantage to tubal reversal is that every month you have a chance and you can become pregnant more than once.

Call us at (919) 968-4656 8am to 5pm eastern standard time and we would be happy to speak with you about reversal surgery at our center.
