HIS CHOICE NO CUT VASECTOMY
MINIMALLY INVASIVE NO SCALPEL VASECTOMY
His Choice Health is currently providing the most minimally invasive, no scalpel vasectomy procedures in North Carolina.
His Choice Vasectomy can be performed in a doctor’s office during a simple 30 minute appointment. The procedure can be easily performed without using a needle or a scalpel and through a single skin opening. The entire vasectomy procedure can be performed using local anesthesia.
Two things are NOT REQUIRED to have a His Choice Vasectomy: you do not need a driver and you do not need ice or frozen peas!
Two Vasectomy Offices Joining Forces
In 2026 His Choice Raleigh is combining with His Choice Durham. The two together are forming His Choice Health.
His Choice Health has two main goals:
- Expand access to minimally invasive vasectomy
- Expand male reproductive health services
These two goals will begin with the opening of His Choice Charlotte vasectomy in March of 2026.
Only providing the best vasectomy procedure
We can clearly say we provide the best vasectomy procedure. Why? We use the procedure that was recommended by the American Urological Association in their recently released 2026 vasectomy guidelines.
Our doctors use a minimally invasive, no scalpel approach to get through the scrotal skin.
Minimally invasive means only one opening created in the middle of the scrotum. One opening means less tissue damage. By avoiding cutting the skin we do not have to use sutures and the skin opening will squeeze closed within 24 hours.
The AUA strongly recommends doctors ONLY USE a minimally invasive no scalpel procedure:
Surgeons should isolate and expose the vas deferens for vasectomy using a minimally invasive approach such as the no-scalpel vasectomy (NSV) technique. (Moderate Recommendation; Evidence Level: Grade A)
Minimally invasive, no scalpel vasectomy results in much lower chances of infection, bleeding, and pain during vasectomy recovery.
Minimally invasive no scalpel vasectomy is only the start to the the best vasectomy procedure around.
The term ‘no scalpel’ no not describe the actual vasectomy procedure…it really only describes the very beginning of the procedure…it describes how the doctor gets through the scrotal skin.
Best vasectomy procedure with the lowest chance of failure
The vasectomy doctors of His Choice Health do not perform cutting and tying vasectomy procedures.
This is an old school way of doing vasectomy. This method results in too many failures…failure means live sperm getting through the vasectomy site 6 months of more after a vasectomy. This usually means pregnancy is still possible after a vasectomy.
The His Choice vasectomy doctors only perform mucosal cautery and fascial interposition. To translate this means: they burn the INSDIE of the vas deferens and they slightly divert, or displace, the lower end of the tube. These two steps greatly decrease the chance the tubes can rejoin.
When tubes rejoin…failures happen. It is hard for these tubes to rejoin because they have been burned on the inside and the ends slightly separated.
We perform 3 key steps during the vasectomy to help insure the lowest risk of failure:
- Tubes are divided with coagulation
- Inside of tubes are burned
- Divided ends separated
The chance of vasectomy failure after a vasectomy involving the above steps is less than 0.5%. In comparison, if the vasectomy doctor only ties, cuts, and removes a small section the chance of vasectomy failure can be as high as 10%.
The American Urological Association only recommends the vasectomy procedure we perform.
Surgeons should perform vasectomy with an occlusive technique that combines mucosal cautery (MC) and fascial interposition (FI). (Strong Recommendation; Evidence Level: Grade B)
