I really am excited, anxious, and ready to have this surgery consultation process done. I have been wanting another baby for the last 8 years. I got my tubes tied in 2006. I was told by few that I could get pregnant on my own again after 5 years of the tubiligation. It was basically hearsay. I cant wait to meet you Dr. Monteith. Thank you in advance and God Bless You.

We can reverse most tubal ligations….even if you have no records!

Many patients will come to us without records because they know we can repair most tubal ligation procedures…well over 90% of the time.

We encourage you to watch this video that will explain how to get records, what records you need, and what you can consider if you are unable to obtain your records: How to determine if you are a candidate for tubal reversal surgery

You should try to get your tubal ligation operative and pathology reports by going to the medical records department in the hospital where your tubal ligation was performed.

You should be able to request a copy of your tubal ligation operative report and a copy of the pathology report (a pathology report is only created when a segment of the tube is removed (typical with tubal ligations that involve tying and cutting the tubes). We can review these records free of charge.

You can personally request your record from the hospital where your tubal ligation was done using our Medical Records Release/Request form: Medical Records Release Form

You dont have to have your records to have tubal reversal at our center. You should consider our optional screening laparoscopy if you cannot get your tubal ligation records. Many patients come to us for reversal without records because they know we can repair most tubal ligations.

We charge $6,900 for tubal reversal surgery. Many women may not be able to obtain their records…some will have surgery because they know we can repair most tubal ligations. Others will add on a screening laparoscopy.

If you choose to have a screening laparoscopy we can look with a camera during the surgery and see if your tubes are repairable. If your tubes are not repairable or then we would offer you a refund of your surgical fee.

For more information: Screening laparoscopy and surgery refund

It’s been 10 years since my surgery and I no longer have access to my tubal surgery records. I know they were clamped so would I still be a good candidate for surgery? Would you still perform it if I wanted to?

We should be able to help you. We are…and tubal reversal surgery is…for real!

We charge $6,900 total plus $150 to schedule and we are located in Raleigh, North Carolina.

To learn more about our surgery watch this video: Tubal Reversal the Process

You should send us your tubal ligation records for a free review.

Patients pay in full and out-of-pocket at the time of scheduling. All you have to pay for in addition to the surgical fee is the cost of travel, hotel, and food. Patients stay in Raleigh a total of 2 nights and 3 days. The consultation is the first day, surgery the second day, and postoperative visit is the third day.

We do have a prepayment tubal reversal plan that allows you to save towards your reversal over a 3 year period.

Although $6,900 seems expensive…the alternative treatment in-vitro fertilization (IVF) average $12,000 to $14,000 and is about 40% successful!

The main advantage to tubal reversal is that every month you have a chance and you can become pregnant more than once. On average, about 2 out of every 3 women become pregnant with tubal reversal surgery.

Hello I am 35 years old I would absolutely love it to bowl ligation reversal due to issues that I have had over time I’m getting them clamped. My doctors are telling me that I need to do a hysterectomy and that is not the way I want to go. I’ve researched and researched all I can. I know what’s wrong with me but it seems like nobody will Listen. I never had the problems that I have right now until I had my tubes clamped. Sometimes I have to remind myself that it isn’t just me it was the procedure. I seen on the website where there is a contest offered every year. I have watched both videos and more on YouTube. I am absolutely grateful that someone finally understands. I am wanting to be entered into the contest to have a reversal done. It will save me and my marriage. If I don’t win the contest I’m still going to see what I can do to speak with one of you to get something going. If I could do it all over again I would have never had my tubes clamped. I would have picked a different method of birth control. Again thank you so much for seeing and understanding and taking your time help women and men with their families. You are a true gift.

I am 37 years old. I have 3 children. My oldest is 20 and my two youngest are 6 and 7 born 13 months apart. I had a tubal ligation with clamps done during the C-section for my youngest child. I knew I’d regret it while they were performing the procedure during my C-section and I do. I would like one more child however fear I’m getting to old.

In general it is recommended that you do not become pregnant after having an ablation procedure.

Tubal reversal and pregnancy are possible if you are having regular periods of at least 3 days duration after your ablation. All pregnancies after ablation are considered high risk. Most IVF doctors will recommend using a gestational surrogate. IVF costs average $14,000 and you will have to pay the surrogate even more.

If you are not having periods then we would not consider you a candidate for reversal. There is no medical treatment to make your periods return.

Ablation will decrease the chance of pregnancy because it permanently damages the lining and muscle of the uterus.

If your periods are light then you do have some functioning endometriumm but we are not always certain if it is enough to allow for pregnancy. There is no accurate way to be certain.

We cannot provide an accurate percentage about the success of women getting pregnant after reversal with a prior ablation because there are no large scale studies looking at this. We have had women become pregnant naturally after tubal reversal with a prior ablation but don’t have a large enough group of these patients to provide meaningful statistics.

You can see our patients who have had pregnancy success after endometrial ablation here: Ablation pregnancies

Studies looking at women who have become pregnant after ablation show that about 50% will miscarry and about 50% will have live born babies.

You should read this article about endometrial ablation: Can you get pregnant after endometrial ablation and tubal ligation?

The ablation will decrease the chances of pregnancy but if you are having regular monthly periods of at least three days duration then pregnancy is certainly possible. If you are not having regular periods then I would advise against a reversal because pregnancy is not likely.

In general pregnancy is not recommended after ablation because each pregnancy is at higher risk; miscarriage, growth restriction, early delivery, c-section and adherent placenta. The literature suggests pregnancies are at higher risk but many will do well.

It is possible to become pregnant after having an endometrial ablation and then a tubal reversal and have a healthy pregnancy if you are having regular periods of at least three days duration every month. Please call us at (919) 977-5050 if you have any additional questions about tubal reversal.

To be considered a candidate by our office you need to be having regular periods (every month) and these periods need to last for at least three days.

All patients with ablations need a consult with me (Dr Monteith) either by phone or in person before they can schedule reversal surgery.

Clarisa Ortiz

I had an endometrial ablation and tubal ligation both when I was suffering severe postpartum depression I would like one more baby and my obgyn laughed and said it was not a possibility for me is this accurate? I would love to have one more baby

It is harder…but not impossible… to become pregnant with increasing age.

Your chances of pregnancy at age 46 are less than 8%… but don’t wait too long. Each year you wait you lose 12 chances and each year the chances become less.

If you are having periods then each month you have a chance to become pregnant. Each year you have 12 chances. The older you become and the longer you wait…then each year you lose 12 yearly chances and each monthly chance becomes less every year you wait.

We do have many patients who become pregnant with tubal reversal after age 40. Most of the women who become pregnant after reversal are between the age of 40 and 43.

We encourage you to watch this video: Does tubal reversal work? What about for older women?

We charge $6,900 total plus $150 to schedule and we are located in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Patients pay in full and out-of-pocket at the time of scheduling. All you have to pay for in addition to the surgical fee is the cost of travel, hotel, and food.

The alternative treatment is in-vitro fertilization (IVF). Most IVF doctors will recommend you use donor eggs after the age of 42. A single cycle of IVF averages $14,000 and average success is 38% for each try. After age 40 IVF success decreases quickly.

For more information: Tubal reversal and age

If you would like to get started then the best first step is to send us your tubal ligation records for a free review. Your tubal ligation records can be obtained from the Medical Records Department in the hospital where your tubal ligation was performed. Occasionally your doctors office may have the records. Sometimes patients may not be able to obtain their tubal ligation records. We can still proceed with surgery without records because we can reverse most tubal ligation procedures.

The first step to see if you are a candidate is to send us your tubal ligation reports to us for a free review and we can let you know if you are a candidate for reversal surgery.

Your reports can be obtained from the medical records department where your tubal ligation surgery was performed.

We charge $6,900 total plus $150 to schedule and we are located in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Patients pay in full and out-of-pocket at the time of scheduling. All you have to pay for in addition to the surgical fee is the cost of travel, hotel, and food.

On average the chance of pregnancy after tubal ligation reversal is about 60% if you are under age 42.

Multiple C-sections are not usually a problem and are very common among our patients.

We should be able to help you. You should consider our screening laparoscopy because of your history of c-sections and the possibility of scar tissue.

We charge $6,900 for tubal reversal surgery. You should send us your records from your tubal ligation for a free review. Sometimes patients cannot get their records. Even if you cannot obtain your records we would perform tubal reversal for you because we can reverse most tubal ligations most of the time.

Tubal reversal can be 60% to 70% effective. The other treatment to become pregnant is In-vitro Fertilization (IVF) and this treatment cost averages $14,000 and is about 40% effective for each try.

Tubal reversal is possible when you have a history of multiple c-sections. We have many patients who have successful reversal and pregnancy with a history of c-sections. The biggest concern with multiple (3 or more) c-sections is the possibility of severe scar tissue. If severe scar tissue exists then reversal may not be possible.

We estimate that about 1 out of 12 women with 3 or more c-sections will have severe scar tissue that can make tubal reversal more challenging and in some cases not possible. For these patients we offer a screening laparoscopy. You can consider this similar to a surgery insurance policy.

The laparoscopy costs an additional $2,000.

If you choose to have a screening laparoscopy we can look with a camera during the surgery and see if you have severe scar tissue. If you have severe scar tissue we can often make a different incision…so this can increase the success of your procedure. If your tubes are not repairable or the scar tissue is too severe then we would offer you a refund of your surgical fee.

It is harder…but not impossible… to become pregnant with increasing age. The chances of pregnancy decrease after age 43.

Nichole Green

Hi my name is Nichole … I already have sent in my records from the physician that completed my Tubal competed and in February of 2019 I sent the $150 for the reversal scheduling fee. At that time we had planned to do the reversal that same summer. I will be sending in at down payment of approximately $1,000 in the next week, ( I am super excited.) However we are planning to to the financing through one of the financing options you offer and accept in your office< ( hoping for the zero interest for 14 months once paid off. However I have fears of failure. It has been 15 1/2 years since my tubal and I am not going to be 41 in just a couple weeks….I am remarried and my husband would like to raise our own children together as he never had that experience, and I would love to be able to have a family again. I have 3 older sons ages 21, 18 and 15. My periods are like clock work never late never heavy…I am 5 foot 6 inches and I weigh 127 currently so I am well with in my ideal BMI for this to work….this subject is a very emotional one for me. We have since moved from Florida to upstate New York, and so very ready to make this HUGE step on the path of parenthood together. I had the polmeroy tubal done and was notified after you received my medical records from my OBGYN from Illinois who completed the surgery and Dr Monteith said that I had more than enough tubes left to repairs my tubes. I really CAN'T wait any longer and want to defeat the evil ticking time bomb of infertility that comes with age. Can you give me some advice as to whether despite my age this is going to work. My husband and I are both divorced and those divorces left us in financial stress how ever my husband has been working on building his credit back up and is currently at a 600 score, Far cry from the 800 credit score he had 3 years ago but it is a work in process. So with all that being said how do I go about getting everything started and where would I go from the blood work that needs to be completed, I live in Canandaigua, New York and am very eager to get this ball rolling for my husband and I can you recommend a good financing option for people with a score of 600? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated and I look forward to hearing from you…

The limit has to be somewhere…and no matter where the limit is…someone will always be close to it, on it, or over it. It is just like the speed limit. No matter where it is someone will always have a problem with it.

The good thing is that you are close! You can lose a few pounds and easily be under the BMI limit.

We require your BMI to be less than 37 to have surgery at our center.

BMI is calculated based on height and weight. Your BMI is officially calculated on the day of your surgical consultation.

We do not charge patients based on BMI.

You can check your BMI with our BMI calculator here: BMI Calculator

Patients pay in full and out-of-pocket at the time of scheduling. All you have to pay for in addition to the surgical fee is the cost of travel, hotel, and food. Dr. Monteith

Angie
The length of time the Essure has been in place is not that important…meaning there is no continual buildup of scar tissue. Maximal scar tissue forms within 3 to 12 months. It can be harder to become pregnant as you become older but the Essure is just as easy to remove now as it was 1 to 2 years after it was inserted.

Angie

I’ve had Essure since 2012 and have been saving for the reversal surgery. I want to know does it matter how long you’ve had the Essure?

HOW DOES THE WHOLE PROCESS WORK?

Fulguration means to burn…we should be able to help you. We can reverse burned tubes. It depends on how much the doctor burned. Each doctor does it differently….you would need to send us your operative report for a free review so we can determine if you are a candidate for reversal.

Reversing burned tubes (also called tubal cauterization or tubal coagulation) can provide a good chance of success. The chance of pregnancy after reversal of burned tubes can be as high as 60% to 80%.

You can see our burned tube reversal testimonials here: Testimonials of Successful Reversal of Burned Tubes

We can proceed with surgery without records because we can reverse most tubal ligation procedures.

We charge $6900 total plus $150 to schedule and we are located in Raleigh, North Carolina. Patients pay in full and out-of-pocket at the time of scheduling. All you have to pay for in addition to the surgical fee is the cost of travel, hotel, and food.

We do have a prepayment tubal reversal plan that allows you to save towards your reversal over a 3 year period. You can find out more information about our prepayment plan…and answers to many other questions by following the link below to our Frequently Asked Questions page.

Although $6,900 seems expensive…the alternative treatment in-vitro fertilization (IVF) average $12,000 to $14,000 and is about 40% successful!

The main advantage to tubal reversal is that every month you have a chance and you can become pregnant more than once.

We have two flexible payment options for you if you dont want to pay in full for surgery: (1) start a prepayment plan with us or (2) finance your reversal surgery.

Had my tubes tied 8 years ago i am 37 am i still a good candidate to become pregnant after the procedure?

C-sections are not usually a problem and are very common among our patients.

The laparoscopy costs an additional $1,750.
