Charles W. Monteith, M.D
Tubal Reversal Doctor
Microsurgical Corrective Tubal Surgery
Dr. Monteith is a certified tubal reversal specialist who began full time practice in reversing tied tubes at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center in the summer of 2008 following seven years in the practice of high risk obstetrics and advanced gynecologic surgery. Dr. Monteith has completed a microsurgery training course at the Cleveland Clinic and a six month fellowship in tubal ligation reversal surgery with Dr Berger.
Dr. Monteith's Background
Dr. Charles Monteith graduated from college with honors from Xavier University of Louisiana and from the University of California at San Francisco school of Medicine. While at the University of California at San Francisco, Dr. Monteith received a prestigious Howard Hughes research fellowship to research molecular genetics.
Dr. Monteith completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During residency, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society and was the recipient of many awards for resident and medical student teaching.
After completing residency, Dr. Monteith accepted a Clinical Assistant Professorship with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
During his seven year tenure as an Assistant Professor he worked in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Wake Medical Hospital in Raleigh, N.C. and practiced high risk obstetrics and advanced surgical gynecology. He has spent a major amount of time in the training and teaching of both medical students and residents.
Dr. Monteith's Certifications
Dr. Monteith is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Upon completing his six month training fellowship with Dr. Berger, he joined the staff at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center as a certified tubal ligation reversal specialist.
Dr. Monteith's interest in becoming a tubal reversal surgeon began when he realized that tubal ligation reversal was gradually becoming less available to patients because of limited training opportunities for younger physicians. His desire to keep tubal ligation reversal as a viable option for women led him to leave a successful practice in obstetrics and gynecology to start a career in tubal ligation reversal.
