Reversing Burned Tubes
Many believe reversing burned tubes is not possible. Tubal coagulation, also known as burning tubes, is a very common form of tubal ligation. Approximately 1 out of every 5 women who have had a tubal ligation have had their tubes burned during the tubal ligation procedure.
Although reversing burned tubes can be challenging, Dr. Monteith has the experience required to reverse this form of tubal ligation.
Chances of Pregnancy After Reversing Burned Tubes?
The chance of pregnancy after tubal reversal depends on the age of the woman at the time of tubal reversal and the type of tubal ligation. In general about 2 out of every 3 women will become pregnant after having tubal ligation reversal.
After reversing burned tubes approximately 66% of women will become pregnant. Patients who have had their tubes burned are encourage to send Dr. Monteith a copy of their tubal ligation operative report. If records are not available, the operative report is vague, or more than 3 burns are performed on each tube then Dr. Monteith encourages patients to consider a screening laparoscopy procedure at his office at the time of tubal reversal surgery.
More information about Screening Laparoscopy procedure
Although many will tell you burned tubes cannot be reversed Dr. Monteith knows otherwise. The patient who submitted this Pregnancy Update report had burned tubes. If she had listened to those who told her it was not possible then she would not be 25 weeks pregnant today!
