Can You Successfully Reverse Essure After So Many Years?
After having Essure for 8 years we decided to have another child.
Dr. Monteith made Essure reversal possible. I found out I was pregnant in less than two months after surgery.

Is The Time Since Essure Important For Reversal?
Most people assume the longer it has been since a tubal ligation then the harder it is to reverse and the lower the chance of pregnancy. This is not exactly correct. The length of time since a tubal ligation is not as important as is the age of the patient at the time of tubal reversal surgery.
Nothing changes with the fallopian tubes after tubal ligation. Some people mistakenly believe the tubes shrink or become progressively damaged as time passes after the tubal ligation. This is not true.
The tubes are in the same condition as they were when they healed from the procedure. The tubes at the time of reversal look the same as they did soon after the tubal ligation.
The time since Essure is not critical either. It is true, the Essure devices are most easily removed within the first 3 months before significant scar tissue in-growth occurs. After 3 to 6 months, the scar tissue in-growth does not become worse or more severe.
Chance of success after reversal based on age
The time since a tubal ligation or Essure procedure is only important if it makes you significantly older. It is harder to become pregnant with increasing age but it is never impossible to become pregnant if you are having regular periods.
Pregnancy does become harder to obtain after the age of 40 but more difficult to obtain after the age of 43.
