A Long Journey To Have A True Miracle Baby
Please meet my precious bonus baby Truett Monroe Boyd. This baby is a true miracle.
First of all my tubes were cut, tied and burned. Thanks to Dr. Monteith and his staff I was able to get pregnant again, after a year of trying. Unfortunately my first pregnancy after surgery was a tubal and was not viable.
We kept trying and after another year, I was pregnant again. We were over the moon when we went to the dr and he confirmed the pregnancy was in fact in the uterus.
Two days after that I had some bleeding, with large clots and with a broken heart I went to the Emergency room. I felt like I had never heard of anyone bleeding clots and it not be a miscarriage. To my shock, it was not a miscarriage. But, that did not take us out of the woods. We got the news that the baby was implanted on my C-section scar. The advice was to terminate the pregnancy and try again…..Spoiler alert, I did not take that advice.
I saw three different doctors before I found one that was even willing to take me on as a patient. The pregnancy was scary and touch and go. Always with the threat of miscarriage or my uterus rupturing randomly. I saw the doctor once a week through my pregnancy. At the end I was admitted to the hospital 2 weeks before my planned C-section. My baby was born 6 weeks early. I lost my uterus, a piece of my bladder, had 58 staples, a painful catheter and a drain bag for fluid and blood on my side for 3 weeks….
But this is the happiest I have ever been in my life. When I was a young parent, I rushed everything. Went back to work when my kids were still babies, couldn’t wait for their next stages in life and for them to just get bigger and more independent. This time I am taking it all in and letting things be as slow as possible. You don’t get many chances for “do overs” in life.
I feel like I have won the lottery with being able to have this bonus baby and appreciate every minute of this journey. I have lost my fertility, for good this time. But I wouldn’t do anything different.
This is my success story. As well as my healing story. I made the decision to cut, tie and burn my tubes out of hast. Based on my life at that time which was very turbulent. The procedure was done directly following my 3rd son’s c-section. My third son Trevor passed away at 3 months of age. My bonus baby does not take his place or take away the pain of loosing him. But it does aid in healing my heart in ways I can’t express.
Thank you for everything!
P.S. Winston Salem, NC Wake Forest Baptist Maternal Fetal Medicine Is the best practice ever for fetal care. My baby and I wouldn’t be here without them either. Especially Dr. Nitsche, Dr. Schaible, Dr. Lentz and their whole team.
