Essure Reversal
Here I am six months post Essure Reversal. It’s been quite an adventure. While I refuse to chart, temp, and all the other Trying To Conceive (“TTC”) madness, the roller coaster of emotions of TTC is very real. I have been on the wagon for five months now. We did not TTC the first cycle since Dr. Berger recommended that we allow one month to heal. It’s funny how you think that every twinge, cramp, and 100 different symptoms under the sun mean you’re pregnant.
Like most women, I really hope to be one of the ones that were pregnant right away; however I knew walking into this that the likely hood of that was very slim. I believe wholeheartedly that it will just take some time.
After the Essure reversal surgery (August 2009) I remember Dr. Berger telling me that if I am not pregnant six months to a year after surgery I could have an HSG. However, it was important to send him the copies so that he could read them because most doctors or x-ray techs may not know exactly how to understand what they are seeing due to the Tubal-Implantation. I had an HSG March 23, 2010, and explained to the doctor and two nurses that they should expect to see something a little different. All three were excited to begin as they had never heard of an Essure Reversal. They all had the same reaction which was “I thought that Essure was permanent” and my answer to that is always the same “yeah I was told that too”. You see, I am not one to take “no” for an answer and there are always options and alternatives. My alternative was Dr. Gary S. Berger.
During the HSG the doctor and nurses attempt to make small talk and ask how I am doing as I eagerly await the results. I was able to see the dye pass through my uterus to each tube. The doctor says that my tubes are open and the right has a better flow then the left but they are definitely open. The doctor then says to me that what she saw was no different from any other HSG she has ever done and that I must have had an excellent Surgeon because if I hadn’t told her that I had a Tubal Implantation she would have never known. What more can be said about that! Truly amazing!
My Journey is far from over. I am definitely back on the road to TTC and look forward to what the future has in store for me and my family. There will be more to add to this story stay tuned!
