Important Facts About Tubal Reversal Surgery!

Is tubal ligation permanent? Not with Dr. Monteith Most people are not aware of the important facts about tubal reversal surgery.

Tubal ligation is a common procedure. Unfortunately many women will regret their tubal and desire more children.

To have children of your own after a tubal ligation then you only have two options: tubal reversal surgery or in-vitro fertilization.

Most women will be encouraged to have in-vitro fertilization (IVF). Most people, including doctors, are not aware tubal reversal can be successful.

There are three very important facts about tubal reversal surgery you should be aware of when trying to decide between tubal reversal and IVF.

1st fact: Tubal reversal is a safe procedure

Dr. Monteith is the Medical Director of A Personal Choice. His center is in Raleigh North Carolina and he exclusively provides tubal reversal and vasectomy reversal surgery.

Reversal surgery with Dr. Monteith is outpatient and has a safe track record. He performs three surgeries a day and has a very low complication rate.

Surgery with Dr. Monteith is so safe patients are able to travel to him for affordable reversal and then safely return home.

2nd fact: Tubal Reversal more successful than IVF

Tubal reversal can be more successful than IVF. About 67% of women who have reversal will become pregnant.

Tubal reversal allows the chance of pregnancy every month and…you can have more than one child.

In comparison a single cycle of IVF averages 38% chance of pregnancy success and costs twice as much.

3rd fact: Tubal Reversal works for older women

A 46 year old mother has natural pregnancy after reversal

Leading reproductive experts have consistently said tubal reversal can have a higher pregnancy rate over time and be more affordable than IVF treatment.

This is true even for women older than the age of 42.

More information: Age and tubal reversal

Tubal reversal allows for natural conception….each month you have a chance and you can become pregnant more than once!

With IVF you have to pay for each treatment cycle and one cycle may not be as successful or as fun as trying for natural conception!

Can you do a reversal after 4 c sections

    1. Dr. Monteith says:

We should be able to reverse your tubes. You should consider our screening laparoscopy because of your history of c-sections and the possibility of scar tissue.

We charge $6,400 for tubal reversal surgery. You should send us your records from your tubal ligation for a free review. Sometimes patients cannot get their records. Even if you cannot obtain your records we would perform tubal reversal for you because we can reverse most tubal ligations most of the time.

Please be aware starting April 1st 2019 the cost for tubal reversal surgery will increase to $6,900. The scheduling fee will increase from $125 to $150.

Tubal reversal can be 60% to 70% effective. The other treatment to become pregnant is In-vitro Fertilization (IVF) and this treatment cost averages $14,000 and is about 40% effective for each try.

Tubal reversal is possible when you have a history of multiple c-sections. We have many patients who have successful reversal and pregnancy with a history of c-sections. The biggest concern with multiple (3 or more) c-sections is the possibility of severe scar tissue. If severe scar tissue exists then reversal may not be possible.

We estimate that about 1 out of 12 women with 3 or more c-sections will have severe scar tissue that can make tubal reversal more challenging and in some cases not possible. For these patients we offer a screening laparoscopy. You can consider this similar to a surgery insurance policy.

The laparoscopy costs an additional $1,500. The screening laparoscopy fee will increase from $1,500 to $1,750.

If you choose to have a screening laparoscopy we can look with a camera during the surgery and see if you have severe scar tissue. If you have severe scar tissue we can often make a different incision…so this can increase the success of your procedure. If your tubes are not repairable or the scar tissue is too severe then we would offer you a refund of your surgical fee.

  5. Jamie says:

I had a bilateral salpingectomy, is it reversable?

    1. Dr. Monteith says:

      Jaime

The answer to your question is it depends. Did they do a partial salpingectomy (remove small part of tube) or total salpingectomy (remove the entire tube). The operative report and pathology report will help answer the question.

If they remove a small segment of tube then we can help you. If they removed both of the tubes in their entirety then reversal is not possible.

We should be able to help you with tubal reversal surgery. You should send us your tubal ligation records for a free review.
