Jean is 38 years of age and is married to Thomas. Together they have been happily married and have two children, ages 12 and 9. Jean is a stay-at-home mom and Thomas works in a steel factory.
Jean’s 9 year old was born by c-cesarean delivery and with the birth of this child she decided her family was complete. She choose to have a tubal ligation procedure at the time of her c-section.
In-vitro Fertilization: Their Only Option
Jean and Thomas slowly began to rethink their decision. Regret is common even in couples from other countries. No one can predict the future and eventually they wanted to have another child.

Jean and Thomas, like so many other couples who have tubal ligation as their only barrier to pregnancy, pursued in-vitro fertilization (IVF). They underwent two cycles of IVF without having a successful pregnancy. Thankfully for them IVF is only $8,000 US per cycle in their home country of Peru (compared with $14,000 per cycle in the the United States).
Despite spending $16,000 on two cycles of IVF, they were not able to become pregnant. They then began to research other options and this is when they found the website of A Personal Choice.
For them tubal reversal was not possible in Peru and this is when they decided it was an important enough decision that it was worth traveling to the United States for a very important surgery. Jean contacted us by email and we then began a process of evaluating her candidacy for tubal reversal by email and phone conversations and also by review of the records and x-ray images she was able to send us.
Reversing Tubes In The US
Jean had an unknown type of tubal ligation and she was not able to obtain her actual operative and pathology reports.
Despite not having records she was able to have a successful tubal reversal. Her tubes were in good shape and both were successfully repaired. Her tubal lengths were 6 and 6.5 cm. Her surgery was less than 60 minutes and the estimated blood loss was less than 6 teaspoons.
