  1. Megan says:

I had the essure procedure done in 2010. I haven’t had any problems until about September/November 2015.

    1st. Black tar stools.
    2. Retaining fluids.
    3. Bloated, can’t loose weight even after not eating for three days.
    4. Several UTI’s.
    5. November noticed blood in my urine and in my stool.
    6. Periods became thick, tissue clots. I’ve had three 7wk miscarriages in my early 30’s. It seemed similar.
    7. My periods became longer. Started at 3-5 days to 7-10. Last month my period lasted almost 18 days. But the later bleeding seemed dark, clots, heavy, smell is different than my normal period.
    8. This month I was so excited to have a normal period of about 5 days. My period or vaginal bleeding started again 8 days later. Again, bleeding color is dark, tissue, heavy then nothing, heavy, mild, nothing. It started again yesterday and last night I didn’t have any bleeding where today I’m pretty heavy.
    9. I have had abdominal hernia surgery, 2011. Mesh was used. I delivered twins each 8lbs in 2007. I have very little skin left is what they have told after the hernia repair. I’m also having complications around where the hernia repair occurred. With the bloating it’s tight around my mesh. I’m buldging on top and below the mesh.
    10. I have t been to an OBGYN since my interior and exterior surgery in 2011/12. I lost insurance and haven’t been able to obtain anything but a multi plan which covers nothing. Medicaid denied me. I need help I know some thing or things are very wrong. I don’t know where to turn.
    11. Symptoms;
    – recently my vision has become terrible.
    – my skin looks ‘molten’ as it did right before I delivered my babies have three. As if I’m retaining fluids.
    – last 6 months gradual diff in bleeding after menstral cycle. Becoming more severe and lasting up to 3 weeks.
    – I’m treated for anxiety and depression. Have been since 2010. Divorced, lost job, lost home, lost everything but my kids. I had the Essure procedure done after the divorce, 6 months.
    – I’ve had fatigue ever since but blamed it on depression. I’ve been taking an afternoon nap since 2010. Haven’t been able to get my life together bc I give up or fatigue easily.
    – felt great when I went to the gym in February of 2015-June 2015, but the hernia started to pop up and over the mesh and now is the size of a tomato – large one.
    – my stress level is very high. Single mom w three girls, 11, 8, 8. Haven’t worked a full time job since surgery.
    – lost 90% of my hearing in the left ear May 5th, 2014. It’s been a huge life altering experience, no insurance, quadrupled my stress level.
    – was sober and in AA, started to drink to cover or numb my brain and the pain in my stomach.
    – November 2014 started smoking again after I quit at 25, now 43.
    – I was on Cobra Insurance until August 2011. My now ex fiancé, paid it one day late. I haven’t been able to get normal insurance bc of preexisting conditions. I voted for Obama, but it’s made things more difficult.
    12. I go to ER usually when things get too scary or intolerable. They tell me to see my General Dr. (Don’t have one). See a Gastroentogist, (no insurance. I tried to see an OBGYN last month after bleeding for three weeks. None of them had opening for months. They didn’t take my insurance. Two said it was illegal to see me without insurance as a self pay. Called the Federal Healthcare and they said even though the multi plan I was sold is rejected by all dr’s – I have to wait until January, 2017 to start a new insurance.

So what happens when my kids don’t have a mother worth anything by then. I have no idea where to start or what to do. I have 3 mesh pieces in me and the essure.

  2. Elizabeth says:

I am looking for essure removal. I do not want a hysterectomy. I would like to see if I can just have the coils removed without any damage. I am regretting my choice of getting it not only cause of being sterile I have encountered many health problems since I got it placed. I need to find out the cost I do have private insurance and I am looking to immediate removal thanks! Eli

    1. Dr. Monteith says:

      Elizabeth
We have performed over 150 Essure removal surgeries. We are unable to accept insurance payments for Essure surgery. Our patients will pay for Essure removal surgery and some patients have been able to obtain partial reimbursement for surgery directly.
