Can pregnancy happen with blocked tubes? The answer depends on if the tubes are truly blocked.
We advise our patients to wait for 12 months after tubal reversal before having a HSG x-ray to determine if their tubes are blocked. Most patients will have a pregnancy within the first year.
Very often many women are anxious to see if their tubes are open and will get early HSG x-rays. Occasionally these x-rays may show that the tubes are blocked. Often these results are inaccurate and the tubes are really open!
Tammy had a HSG x-ray and it demonstrated both tubes were blocked. She was naturally disappointed but shortly thereafter she became pregnant and now has a healthy pregnancy in her uterus.
Tammy’s tubes are not blocked and her HSG x-ray was inaccurate. She has had a successful tubal reversal surgery and she sent us the email below notifying us of her recent pregnancy success. With her permission we share her success for the benefit of other women.
Dear Dr. Monteith
Thank you for your well-wishes…The sonogram showed everything to be in it’s proper place…we were able to see the yolk sac as well.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to experience the gift of life again!!
Best Regards,
