Removing Essure with surgery
Can you remove Essure and get pregnant? Removing Essure with surgery and pregnancy are both possible with Dr. Monteith of A Personal Choice in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Dr. Monteith specializes in two types of Essure removal surgery.
The Essure devices can be removed and the tubes can be closed to prevent pregnancy or the Essure devices can be removed and the fallopian tubes can be reimplanted into the uterine cavity to allow pregnancy. This procedure is called a tubouterine implantation.
Tubouterine implantation is performed by
Dr. Monteith as an 80 minute outpatient surgery. Patients travel from across the United States to have this specialized surgery at A Personal Choice. Patients will schedule surgery over the phone and fax all required documents before traveling to see Dr. Monteith. Once a surgery date is picked patients can make travel arrangements.
Patients will have a consultation with Dr. Monteith the day before surgery, they will have Essure surgery the very next day, and the day after Essure removal surgery patients will have a final post-operative evaluation with Dr. Monteith. Most patients will become pregnant within one year of having the Essure devices removed and the chance of pregnancy after Essure removal is 35% to 40%.
