Pregnancy After Novasure
Submitted November 14th 2014
I had my tubes tied after my fourth c-section in December 2007. In 2008, I had a Novasure ablation.
In December 2012, Dr. Monteith performed my reversal. After a year of trying to conceive, we assumed that a pregnancy would most likely be impossible because of the ablation. We found out this week that we are expecting!!!
I had blood work done Monday and my first ultrasound is scheduled in 4 days. Praising the Lord for our tiny little miracle!!
Thank you Dr. Monteith for giving us this second chance!
Patient age: 34
Tubal ligation type: Coagulation (burned)
Patient hometown: Memphis, Tennessee
Pregnancy Update

Dr. Monteith
I had my ultrasound today. I have attached a photo of the image I brought home.
There is a clear sac and a yolk sac present but no visible heartbeat yet. The measurements of the sac they say are between 5 weeks, 4 days and 6 weeks, 0 days. The baby has implanted in the left side of my bicornuate uterus, which makes sense as I am thinking the ablation was performed on the right side of the uterine cavity.
Hoping this is a good start to a healthy, full-term, post-ablation pregnancy.
Thank you so much again for all you do!

Tubal reversal and endometrial ablation
Women often ask if reversal and pregnancy are possible after ablation.
The above message was sent to us by a patient who had a Novasure procedure and also tubal ligation reversal.
If you are considering reversing a tubal after a uterine endometrial ablation procedure we encourage you to inform yourself about the risks of pregnancy after endometrial ablation.
We have written several articles to better educate those who are considering pregnancy after an endometrial ablative procedure.

Endometrial Ablation and Tubal Ligation Reversal: Advice
In general pregnancy after ablation is not recommended because of the higher risks of early and late pregnancy miscarriage and delivery complications. Many pregnancies after ablation will be normal.
Can you have tubal reversal after Novasure?
We have two requirements for you to be considered a candidate for reversal surgery after an endometrial ablative procedure:
- Must have regular periods
- Must complete an office/phone consultation
Regular periods. To be considered a candidate for reversal after ablation we require you be having regular (every month) periods of at least three (3) days duration.
If you are not having regular periods or these periods are less then three days duration then we cannot consider you an acceptable candidate for tubal reversal. No treatments currently exist which can increase your uterine lining if your uterine lining has been damaged by the procedure.
Office/phone consultation. We require all patients who have reversal at our facility after an ablative procedure to have a mandatory phone or office consultation with Dr. Monteith before they can schedule.
The purpose of this consultation is to fully inform patients about the potential risks of pregnancy.
