Successful Reversal of Tubal Ligation With Burning
I just wanted to thank you Dr. Monteith and your staff for taking such good care of me. I never thought my reversal would be as successful as it was with all the burning done during my ligation.
We loved our hotel, the whole experience was great! Coming to A Personal Choice was the best decision we ever made. Thank You!

Can you reverse tubal ligation with burning?
A very common method of tubal ligation is tubal ligation with burning.
The medical term for this type of tubal ligation is coagulation. Tubal coagulation is a very common type of tubal ligation in the United States and a significant number of women have their tubes burned during a tubal ligation procedure. Tubal ligation with burning sounds overly destructive but many of these tubal ligations can be successfully reversed.
More information: Success of reversing tubal ligation with burning
In general, our experience demonstrates we can reverse tubes successfully in over 98% of patients who come to our specialty reversal center. The same is true for tubal ligations performed with the burning method. The chance of becoming pregnant after reversing a tubal ligation with burning is mostly dependent on the age of the patient but the average success rate is around 65%.
What about: Cut and Burnt or Clipped and Burnt?
Patients are often understandably concerned that variations of tubal ligation which also involve burning the tubes may not be repairable. Some patients are worried if the tubes are both ‘clipped and burnt‘ or ‘cut and burnt‘ that the tubes cannot be repaired. In our experience, these type of tubal ligation variations are also reversible. Even though doctors do perform extra steps by burning the tubes they often burn little and do not damage the tube extensively.
