Raleigh, North Carolina – January 6th, 2015 – A Personal Choice has achieved accreditation by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). Accreditation distinguishes this outpatient surgical centers from many other outpatient facilities by providing the highest quality of care to its patients as determined by an independent, external process of evaluation.

A Personal Choice of Raleigh NC certified as a surgical center.Status as an accredited organization means A Personal Choice has met nationally recognized standards for the provision of quality health care set by AAAHC. More than 5,000 ambulatory health care organizations across the United States are accredited by AAAHC.

Not all ambulatory health care organizations seek accreditation; not all that undergo the rigorous on-site survey process are granted accreditation.

“We believe our patients deserve the best,” stated Dr. Charles W. Monteith, Medical Director of A Personal Choice. “When you see our certificate of accreditation, you will know that AAAHC, an independent, not-for-profit organization, has closely examined our facility and procedures. This means we care enough about our patients to strive for the highest level of care possible.”

Ambulatory health care organizations seeking accreditation by AAAHC undergo an extensive self-assessment and on-site survey by AAAHC expert surveyors – physicians, nurses, and administrators who are actively involved in ambulatory health care. The survey is consultative and educational, presenting best practices to help an organization improve its care and services.

A Personal Choice Receives AAAHC Accreditation

“Going through the process challenged us to find better ways to serve our patients, and it is a constant reminder that our responsibility is to strive to continuously improve the quality of care we provide,” said Mary Heramia, Practice Administrator.

A Personal Choice is a unique medical facility exclusively dedicated to tubal ligation reversal, Essure reversal, vasectomy reversal, and vasectomy. The center was first founded in Chapel Hill, North Carolina in 1979, was formerly known as Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center, and provided infertility treatment to couples from around the world. Female sterilization reversal surgery became the exclusive focus of the center in early 2001 and over 12,000 patients have undergone tubal surgery at the center since the facility first opened. The reversal surgeons of Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center were the first to perform successful reversal of Essure sterilization resulting in full term pregnancy.

In 2013 the world-renowned center was relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina and expanded services to include vasectomy reversal and minimally invasive no scalpel vasectomy. The center underwent a name change to A Personal Choice to reflect its expansion of services offered and its new role in assisting patients, both men and women, with personal choices about personal matters regarding the control of their fertility.

A Personal Choice exclusively offers tubal ligation reversal surgery, Essure reversal and Essure removal, vasectomy reversal, and no scalpel, no needle minimally invasive vasectomy procedures. Dr. Charles W. Monteith serves as the Medical Director and oversees a professional staff of over fifteen employees composed of nurses, business office personal, surgical technicians, and anesthesia staff.

Their mission is to provide the safest, most successful and affordable reversal procedures and reduce barriers to vasectomy. They also provide the most detailed and accurate information about tubal reversal available from any doctor, hospital, or medical institution.
