On March 22, 2008, we brought Nolan into the world kicking and screaming. Okay, I was screaming…he was kicking. When Travis and I met five years earlier, I knew I could “never” have any more children; and, since he had no children of his own, I made it known to Travis early on. I didn’t want to get my heart drawn in so deep with him only to have it broken by this “deal breaker”. Travis just said, very matter-of-factly….. “well, you can just have that surgery and get your tubal ligation reversed”. Being an RN, I knew that was easier said than done; but he never doubted for one second that he would one day be a father. I had checked with surgeons in our area and with my personal OB/GYN who also performs tubal reversals, but was met with negative attitudes.
So, I put it out of my mind until December 2006 when I came across Dr. Berger’s website. Everything went so fast from then on and before we knew it, we were in Chapel Hill having surgery. The surgery and recovery were so peaceful. I felt as though I had been “put back together” and truly given a second chance at life.
I cannot think of words to describe the gratitude that I have for Dr. Berger and the entire staff of A Personal Choice. Nolan has brought so much joy to our whole family in such a short time. I think Travis said it best as he was whispering to his son just days after Nolan’s birth, ”I don’t know what we would have done without that doctor. I owe Dr. Berger so much more than I could ever pay him. He gave me you…he gave me my life.”
Thank you, Dr. Berger, for giving us LIFE.
