Getting Pregnant After Tubal Ligation: 3 Options
It is possible to get pregnant after tubal ligation. You have three options:
- Pray for tubal ligation failure
- Have tubal ligation reversal surgery
- Start In-vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments
All of the above options will allow you to become pregnant after tubal ligation.
Tubal Ligation Failure
Tubal ligations are not always 100% successful….but they are pretty close. There is less than a 2% chance any tubal ligation procedure will fail. Most people mistakenly think their tubes can came come undone, come loose, or grow back together after 5 to 10 years. None of these things happen.
Sometimes tubes can heal closed after the tubal ligation procedure but a small opening can remain. This opening will allow sperm to get out of the tube…but it is much harder for the egg to find the small opening. A few women will have a healthy pregnancy after tubal ligation failure…but most will have an ectopic, or tubal pregnancy.
You can pray for tubal ligation failure…but be careful what you ask for. You may just get pregnant and it end up in your tubes!
