Dr. Monteith reverses Essure in his outpatient AAAHC accredited surgical facility in Raleigh, North Carolina. Patients travel from their home states to stay in Raleigh for 2 nights and 3 days. The consultation appointment is the first day and the surgery is the second day. Essure reversal surgery takes about 80 minutes to complete and patients return to the local hotel after surgery to recover. The post-operative consultation is on the third day.
Patients return home after the post-operative consultation appointment and can try to conceive as soon as they feel comfortable. The can return to light duty work in 7 to 10 days. If their job requires heavy lifting they can return to work in 4 weeks.
The chance of pregnancy after Essure reversal is approximately 40%. Most patients will conceive within the first 12 months of reversal surgery. Dr. Monteith does recommend a c-section with any future pregnancies to help insure a safe delivery with minimal risk to mother and baby.
