Tubal Ligation Side Effects: Symptoms Were Real
I can’t even begin to thank Dr. Monteith enough for what he did for me. The past two years have been very hard on me, every day living with the regret of letting a doctor influence me to make such a personal/permanent decision based on what she thought was causing me to have high-risk pregnancies. To top all that off, I had many complications starting one week after my tubal ligation surgery. These symptoms lasted for months and resulted in two additional surgeries and multiple testing because I had unexplained tubal ligation side effects that started after my tubal ligation. I experienced abdominal pain, especially when I was active, to the point where I couldn’t hold my children for long periods of time: memory loss, fatigue, tail bone pain, joint pain, and hormonal issues.
After being in physical therapy for over a year and having doctors tell me over and over that tubal ligation does not cause abnormal symptoms and that I should probably just have my tubes removed, because I don’t need them anymore. Giving me the impression that they just wanted me to go away.
I decided to take matters into my own hands and began doing research on tubal ligation side effects and met with a local infertility specialist who also performed tubal ligation reversals. His opinion was ” that putting the tubes back together wouldn’t help relieve abnormal symptoms.” His approach would also required a two hour surgery and at least 6 weeks off work.
So I decided to look outside of Oregon and that is how I found A Personal Choice. After calling their office and speaking with Mary Jo, I knew that this was the place for me. I was so excited to hear that Dr. Monteith has reversed tubal ligation’s not only for pregnancy, but for possibly helping with tubal ligation side effects. So I scheduled and had my tubal ligation reversal on 8/8/2016.
Even though I was only at A Personal Choice for a few day’s I had many conversations over the phone and through email prior and I find it absolutely amazing how they can give such great care from a far. What impressed me the most is the fact that you mostly speak to the same nurse who is very knowledgable and treats you like you have been a patient for years even though you have never met before.
Real treatment without providing false hope
I think very highly of Dr. Monteith as a doctor and a surgeon! His expertise and skills are one of a kind! He was the only doctor that I have seen that had any knowledge or belief that tubal ligation may possibly cause a person to have side effects. But at the same time, never gave me false hope. I would recommend this office to anyone.
I’m now over a month post-op and I’m starting to feel like my old self again!! I was able to go back to work in less than 2 weeks. Although it was a little challenging because I work for a multi-provider Nephrology clinic with very ill patients and it can be extremely busy at times. So at the end of the day my heating pad was practically glued to me. But everyday gets better!
Dr. Monteith truly has healing hands he is a fantastic doctor in my eyes. And I will always be grateful that I was able to be a patient at A Personal Choice. Thank you for giving me the chance to live a full life again!!
