Reversing Essure After Endometrial Ablation: Leap Of Faith
Testimonial #2284

Pregnant With Essure Reversal After Endometrial Ablation

After having Essure and endometrial ablation, I didn’t think it would be possible to have another baby, but Dr. Monteith made it possible for us to try again.

After having the reversal in March of 2017, we welcomed our sweet baby boy in January of 2018. He is truly our little miracle.

I am so glad that we took a leap of faith and trusted Dr. Monteith.

Patient age: 40
Tubal ligation type: Essure
Patient hometown: Lubbock, Texas

What is endometrial ablation?

Endometrial ablation is a procedure to treat heavy periods and anemia.

During an endometrial ablation, the uterine lining is destroyed by exposing the lining to hot water, electricity, or freezing. Unfortunately ablation causes all future pregnancies to be at much higher risk and doctors recommend you not become pregnant after having an endometrial ablation procedure.

Pregnancies after ablation are at much higher risk for miscarriage, stillbirth, prematurity, requiring cesarean delivery, and, possibly, hysterectomy and blood transfusion at the time of delivery.

For carefully selected candidates successful pregnancy may be possible after an endometrial ablation. To be considered a candidate for reversal after ablation, potential patients must be having regular periods (every month) of at least three days duration. Patients interested in reversal must then have a mandatory phone or office consultation with Dr. Monteith before they can schedule reversal surgery.
