Patients can schedule surgery over the phone with a member of our nursing staff, have a pre-operative appointment with Dr. Monteith the first day of their visit and vasectomy reversal surgery the second day.

Success of reversing vasectomy

The success of vasectomy reversal is mostly determined by the length of time since having the vasectomy procedure. About Dr. Monteith and Vasectomy Reversal

Dr. Monteith is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Obstetricians and Gynecologists are physicians who, by virtue of satisfactory completion of an accredited program of graduate medical education, possess special knowledge, skills and professional capability in the medical and surgical care of women related to pregnancy and disorders of the female reproductive system. Dr. Monteith is not a board certified urologist.

Dr. Monteith completed a formal one week microsurgical training course at the Cleveland Clinic. He has been performing female sterilization reversal since 2008.

Dr. Monteith sought additional training in vasectomy and vasectomy reversal through one-on-one professional mentorships. Dr. Monteith has performed minimally invasive vasectomy since 2007 and began offering minimally invasive vasectomy reversal in 2014.

Dr. Monteith performs minimally invasive vasectomy reversal in his in-office operating room under general anesthesia. He performs vasovasostomy (end to end connections) vasectomy reversal but does not perform vasoepididymostomy (vas deferens to epididymis) by-pass procedures. The majority of reversals can be successfully performed as vasovasostomy procedures.

It is difficult to predict preoperatively who will require a vasoepididymostomy procedure.
Men who have had vasectomy greater than 10 years are more at risk for requiring vasoepididymostomy and should consider having reversal with a Urologist who is fellowship trained in performing vasoepididymostomy procedures.

Dr. Monteith offers office consultations for patients who are considering vasectomy reversal at A Personal Choice.

Meet Dr. Monteith

As a surgeon my reputation & integrity are extremely important to me. I’ve been providing new choices & new beginnings since 2008. I’ve had the distinct privilege of being the first surgeon in the world to report successful pregnancy within the peer reviewed medical literature after reversal of transcervical hysteroscopic tubal sterilization. Permanent is not forever at my practice! HAVE QUESTIONS?

What Our Patients Are Saying

“We had our surgery on 3/18/15 and on 02/02/16 our 7 pound 11 oz baby girl was born! I’m 34 years old and had tubal ligation done via clamps 8 years prior so this surgery really does work! 8 years later I had the reversal and 9 years later we were blessed with our little girl! So many doctors tried to talk us out of it-wanted us to do IVF to get our money-however praise God we went with this because it does WORK! Dr M is amazing and his staff! The area is beautiful where his office is, and if you do this procedure it will be the best money you ever spend!”

– Charlee-Belle M., Surgery

“From the very first phone call, the staff at A Personal Choice has been amazing! They have answered our numerous questions, concerns and have been amazing. They never give you false hope, but give you the complete story. I am so happy that we chose Dr. Monteith and his staff to make our dreams a reality. Can’t wait to start trying to have a baby. I would and have recommended Dr. Monteith to ANYONE wanting a tubal ligation or vasectomy reversal. Thank you all so much for giving us this chance!”

– Angela W., Essure Reversal

“Excellent service overall! Each stage of the process was carefully explained in great detail: how the procedure works, what to expect during the procedure, what to expect after, possible side effects. Dr. Monteith himself is very knowledgeable and experienced and quite personable too. He has a great sense of humor and uses it generously to put patients at ease. I highly recommend him and his staff to anyone considering either a vasectomy or a vasectomy reversal.”

Chris B., Vasectomy Reversal

My husband had a vasectomy 6- 6.5 yrs ago. We’re looking to have it reversed. How do we determine if he would be good with the vasovasectomy or if he would need a vasoepididymostomy?

    Dr. Monteith Reply

You cannot tell until the time of the reversal. If there is fluid in the lower end then a vas to vas connection is the procedure of choice. If there is no fluid in the lower end then a vas to epididymis connection is the procedure of choice. You can’t tell until the actual procedure. Men who have vasectomy > 12 years are more likely to need the more complicated vas to epididymis connection.

Is there payment plan for the procedure.

    Dr. Monteith Reply

We have two flexible payment options for you if you dont want to pay in full for surgery: (1) start a prepayment plan with us or (2) finance with either CareCredit or United Medical Credit.

Prepayment plan. We do have a prepayment plan that allows you to save towards your surgery. You need to start it with at least $500 and you can contribute any amount over the next 3 years. When you have saved the full amount then you can have your surgery. You can have the surgery anytime within 3 years of starting your plan.

If you dont have your surgery by the end of the third you you are refunded all of your money less $500. Surgery discounts, when available, are offered to prepayment account members only.

For more information: Tubal Reversal Prepayment Plan

Financing reversal surgery. We work with two companies who will help you finance surgery. You would apply for financing directly with the companies on our website.

We charge $6400 total plus $125 to schedule and we are located in Raleigh, North Carolina. Insurance will not pay for tubal reversal surgery.

You should send us your tubal ligation records for a free review.

Patients pay in full and out-of-pocket at the time of scheduling. All you have to pay for in addition to the surgical fee is the cost of travel, hotel, and food. Patients stay in Raleigh a total of 2 nights and 3 days. The consultation is the first day, surgery the second day, and postoperative visit is the third day.

We do have a prepayment tubal reversal plan that allows you to save towards your reversal over a 3 year period.

Although $6,400 seems expensive…the alternative treatment in-vitro fertilization (IVF) average $12,000 to $14,000 and is about 40% successful!

The main advantage to tubal reversal is that every month you have a chance and you can become pregnant more than once. On average, about 2 out of every 3 women become pregnant with tubal reversal surgery.
